Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: When arriving home with a purchased pie crust, I realized in transporting it that it had cracked and was broken into pieces.

I didn’t want to throw it away, so I cut the pieces into strips to complete a lattice-top pie. Worked great. - Maurine Murray, Friendswood, Texas

Dear Heloise: I enjoy reading your column every day and have benefited from the numerous tips and hints.

Here is my tip for keeping track of the miscellaneous dishes that belong in our motor home: I put a dab of bright-red nail polish on the handle of a skillet, the bottom of plastic ware or on the edge of a pitcher.

When they’re brought into the house for washing after a short trip, no one has a problem knowing where they belong.

This works so well at keeping track of items that I have since put a dab of black nail polish on items from the house that may be loaned out or taken to a potluck. I am not replacing/losing items anymore! - Paula Malloy, Simi Valley, Calif.
