St. David’s Hosting Lenten Soup Suppers

FOR THE RECORD: 3-21-98 Dinner sold out: Tickets are no longer available for Sunday’s dinner at Audubon Park United Methodist Church. The dinner was mentioned in Thursday’s North Side Voice Religion Notebook.

St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall, is hosting soup suppers each Wednesday during Lent. The meals will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a segment of the “Between Two Altars” video series and discussion. The series deals with various issues relevant to living as a Christian in today’s world.

The evenings will continue through April 1. No advance registration is necessary and the evenings are free.

Ministry workshop this weekend

Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 7307 N. Nevada, will host a Caring Ministry Workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The workshop will include presentations on “Ministry to Those Experiencing Grief,” “How to Care in a Distinctly Christian Way,” and “The Stephen Series System of Lay Caring Ministry.”

The cost of the workshop is $15 per person. Group rates are available. The registration deadline has been extended to today, due to the wrong phone number being printed in last week’s Voice. For more information or to register, call the church at 483-4218.

Greek luncheon on Sunday

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington, will host its annual Greek Independence Day luncheon after the 10 a.m. Liturgy on Sunday. The Fish Plaki luncheon will feature the church’s folk dancers as entertainment.

Dinner to raise funds for mission

The youth of Audubon Park United Methodist Church will host a Chinese dinner at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The menu will include teriyaki chicken, fried rice, egg rolls, chow mien salad and fortune cookies.

The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. Tickets will be available at the door. Proceeds will be used to send church youth on a mission trip to Mexico in July.
