Dollar Gains On Major Currencies
The dollar hit a second consecutive, two-month high against the Japanese yen Thursday, helping the dollar rise against most major currencies.
The U.S. currency ran up because of technical reasons and negative sentiment concerning Japan’s economic stimulus plan.
One factor boosting the dollar was a rumor that a major Japanese beverage company was about to report billion-dollar derivatives losses, which the market interpreted as being just one of many companies with similar ill-fated hedging programs.
