Drive Brings In 54,000 Pounds Of Food
Spokane area residents provided more than 54,000 pounds of food for the hungry during The Spokesman-Review’s second annual food drive Saturday.
North Idaho residents also participated, but their donations hadn’t been tallied, said Jennifer Byrne, spokeswoman for the food drive.
The canned goods will go to food banks in Spokane, the Spokane Valley, Medical Lake, Cheney, Post Falls, Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Lake.
More than 100 people volunteered and 90 percent of the newspaper carriers collected the food Saturday morning.
