Kevin Schmitt Receives Letter Of Appreciation
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Kevin Schmitt, received a Letter of Appreciation for his superior performance of duty, displaying dedication and initiative and consistently performing his duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. Schmitt is assigned at Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Naval Air Station, Fallon, Nev. He is a 1994 graduate of North Central High School.
Army Reserve Pvt. Dan Pousson graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo. His training included instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid and Army history and traditions. Pousson is the son of Patty Smith of Veradale. He is 1997 graduate of Central Valley High School.
Shari Van Dyke, Spokane, earned an award for logging 100 hours in the American Quarter Horse Association Horseback Riding Program. This program provides members recognition for time spent riding or driving American Quarter Horses.
Darcy Ruemping and Kelly Sweitzer were both initiated into Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Washington. Ruemping is the daughter of Dale and Carol Ruemping of Spokane and graduated from Ferris High School. Sweitzer is the daughter of John and Sheelagh Sweitzer of Spokane and is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High school.

Rod Schutte, Othello, Wash., bachelor’s in general science; Justin Crellin, Pullman, bachelor’s in history; William Heath, master’s in special education; and Loyd Willaford, master’s in history, Spokane.
Gonzaga University has been granted $68,000 from the E.L. Wiegand Foundation of Reno, Nev. The grant is to assist in the purchase of chemistry equipment for new laboratories to be built in Hughes Hall at Gonzaga.
Air National Guard Airman Erin Miller has graduated from the information management apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss. Miller’s training included administrative support and office management for functional staff elements. She is the daughter of Debra Miller, Edwall, Wash., and a 1997 graduate of University High School.
