Boxer Charged In Sex Crimes
A Spokane boxer has been charged with one count of child molestation and two counts of indecent exposure.
Prosecutors say Frank Vassar, 29, exposed himself to a 14-year-old girl and a 25-year-old woman on two separate occasions. In a complaint filed Monday in Spokane County District Court, prosecutors say Vassar exposed himself to the teenager while giving her a ride home on Feb. 5.
He is accused of exposing himself to the 25-year-old woman in October. She did not report the incident until she was contacted by police last month, the complaint says. Prosecutors say Vassar met the teenager and the woman at the Lilac City Boxing Club, where he trains. The woman, who also trains at the gym, told police Vassar exposed himself to her after everyone else had left the building for the evening.
Last November, Vassar won the Intercontinental Boxing Association light heavyweight championship. He’s scheduled to defend that title April 1 in a bout at the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo Casino.
Vassar was expected to turn himself in to Spokane police on Tuesday night.
