Schools Closed After Boy Seen With Gun
School officials closed down Soos Creek Elementary Wednesday afternoon after a teenager with a pellet gun was seen on a nearby street.
And officials at nearby Sunrise Elementary School locked down their building - locking all outside doors and closing window shades. Children said they were kept inside until the teen had left the area.
In the wake of a school shooting Tuesday that left five dead in Jonesboro, Ark., Soos Creek Principal Anne Ford said she believes officials erred on the side of caution.
The incident began about 2:20 p.m. when a young person with a gun was seen walking near the schools in this south King County town.
King County police searched for the person, then discovered he was a 15-year-old boy carrying his new BB gun on his way to target shooting.
