Eva Goehring Spokane
Graveside service for Eva Goehring, 93, will be at 11 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Goehring, a 48-year Spokane resident, died Wednesday.
She was born in Odessa, Russia, and her family moved to Aberdeen, S.D., when she was six years old.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was a homemaker.
Her husband, David Goehring, died in 1985.
Survivors include three sons, Wallace Kirchgesler of Spokane, Donald Kirchgesler of Long Beach, Calif., and Keith Kirchgesler of Renton, Wash.; four daughters, Susan Smith of Spokane, Janice Nelson of Priest River, Idaho, Carol Jacobs of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shirley Cromer of Aberdeen; a sister, Rose Cason of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Eugene Wolfe of Aberdeen; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Oliver ‘Ollie’ Ellis Hope, Idaho
Service for Oliver Martin “Ollie” Ellis, 84, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple, 8999 Strahorn Road, Hayden, Idaho. The Cremation Society of Washington was in charge cremation arrangements.
Mr. Ellis, who was born in Greenwich Township, Ohio, died Sunday.
He had served with the Marine Corps in China during the 1930s and during the Korean War, serving as a forward supply sergeant.
Mr. Ellis retired in San Francisco and moved to Hope 23 years ago.
He was a member of the Masonic Order in various organizations in the Northwest and Canada and was a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie; a stepdaughter, JoAnn Van Stone of Hope; and four grandchildren and a niece and nephew in Spokane.
Hazel Perron Spokane
Visitation for Hazel G. Perron, 91, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Perron, a 60-year Spokane resident, died Tuesday.
She was born in Paxton, Ill., and worked as a rose grader in the nursery industry.
Mrs. Perron was a member of the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Her husband, Romeo Perron, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Ron, Carl and Ray Perron, all of Spokane; a daughter, Alice Cardone of Spokane; a brother, Bill Anderson of Tucson, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Norman Perron Spokane
No service will be held for Norman R. Perron, 70, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perron, who was born in Cusick, Wash., died Tuesday.
He graduated in 1946 from Central Valley High School and served in the Air Force.
Mr. Perron worked as an auto body mechanic for several years.
Survivors include a son, Jon Perron of Spokane; two daughters, Linda Wood of Sheridan, Wyo., and Denise Perron; three brothers, Ron, Carl and Ray Perron, all of Spokane; a sister, Alice Cardone of Spokane; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arthur Grafious Jr. Hauser Lake, Idaho
At his request, no service will be held for Arthur Duane Grafious Jr., 54. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Grafious, who was born in Hood River, Ore., died Tuesday.
He lived in Sunnyside, Wash., and in 1948 moved to Spokane, where he graduated from Rogers High School.
Mr. Grafious attended Spokane Community College and Eastern Washington University before serving with the Navy for 12 years.
During his military service, he worked on Air-Arm nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, and was stationed in Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Bremerton and Virginia.
Mr. Grafious returned to Spokane after his military service and was an assembly worker for Keytronics.
He moved to Hauser Lake in 1987 and was a longtime area musician.
Survivors include his parents, Arthur Grafious Sr. of Spokane and Irma Taylor of Puyallup, Wash.; a brother, Roger Grafious of Kent, Wash.; and a sister, Elaine Crampton of Seattle.
Elmer Blackman St. John, Wash.
Memorial service for Elmer Dallas Blackman, 77, will be at noon today at the United Methodist Church in St. John. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Rosalia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Blackman, who was born in Rosalia, died Thursday.
For more than 40 years, he farmed a centennial farm. He retired in 1983.
He served as director of the Pine City Cemetery, the Pine City School Board and Boy Scouts.
He was a member of the St. John Christian Life Assembly Church and the St. John Golf and Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Elaine; a daughter, Judy Howard of Pine City, Wash.; two sons, Mark Blackman of Salem, Ore., and Richard Blackman of St. John; a brother, Howard Blackman of Lapine, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
William Reynolds Spokane
Visitation for William R. “Bill” Reynolds, 80, will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Reynolds, who was born and raised in Fordyce, Ark., died Wednesday.
He graduated from high school in Fordyce and then served with the Air Force.
Mr. Reynolds served during World War II and participated in the Central Burma, China and India Burma campaigns. He was the recipient of five Bronze Stars, the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He also served during the Korean War and moved to Spokane in 1961 from Madrid, Spain. He retired as a master sergeant in 1974.
Mr. Reynolds worked for the state Department of Licensing for 13 years and retired in 1988 as an assistant supervisor.
He was a member of the Spokane Valley Elks Lodge and the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Dolly Fox of Spokane, and Nancy Deishl and Diane Jones, both of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; a son, Robert Reynolds of Elma, Wash.; a brother, Hugh Reynolds of Fordyce; a sister, Mary Ruth Creech of Camden, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Aaron ‘Bud’ Murphy Spokane
Funeral Mass for Aaron N. “Bud” Murphy, 18, will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Murphy, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Wednesday.
He attended Ferris High School, was active in youth sports and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Mr. Murphy wrote poetry, sketched cartoons, and played the guitar and drums.
Survivors include his mother, Lin Murphy of Spokane; his father, Mike Murphy of Spokane; a brother, Sean Murphy, and a sister, Megan Murphy, both of Spokane.
Russel Hunt Reno, Nev.
Memorial service for Russel Edward Hunt, 69, was April 24 at Reno Memorial Cremation Funeral Home.
Mr. Hunt, who was born in Kellogg, died April 21.
He served in the Army and worked as a police officer in Kellogg and later moved to Colfax, Wash. Mr. Hunt retired as the chief of police from Colfax and moved to Reno 18 years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; four daughters, Terry Birr of Spokane, Sally Noecker of Reno, Charlene Hunt of Carmel, Calif., and Romona Burch of Yerington, Nev.; a son, Leonard Noecker of Honolulu; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Laura Johnson Spokane
Memorial service for Laura M. Johnson, 87, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson, who was born in Sanders, Idaho, died Tuesday.
She moved to Tekoa, Wash., in 1925 and then in 1932 to Spokane. At one time she lived in Ketchikan, Alaska, for five years.
Mrs. Johnson worked as the head cashier at The Crescent and as a checker at Chet’s Foods.
She was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2 and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband, Johnny Johnson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Donald Hill of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Joshua Norman Spokane
Visitation for Joshua James Norman, 16, will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Norman died April 24 in an automobile accident.
He was a lifetime Spokane resident and attended Grant Elementary School and was a student at Havermale Alternative Center.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, James and Kate Norman of Spokane; his mother, Phyllis Martin of Spokane; two stepsisters, Sheena and Jasmine, both of Spokane; and his grandmothers, Bernice White and Johnnie May Martin, both of Spokane.
Kristy Swann Spokane
Visitation for Kristy Jean Swann, 21, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Miss Swann, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.
She graduated in 1995 from Ferris High School and enjoyed animals and nature.
Survivors include her mother, Donna Swann of Spokane; a sister, Peggy Swann of Spokane; her grandparents, Ruth Swann of Piney Point, Md., and Ronald and May Triplett of Spokane.
Gladys Schubert Spokane
Service for Gladys E. Schubert, will be at 9 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Schubert, 89, died Tuesday.
She was a a lifetime resident of Spokane and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Schubert was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 93 of Medical Lake, the Corbin Senior Center, the Sinto Senior Center and was active in square dancing and card clubs.
Her husband, Irvin, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Wilson of Seattle.
Orville Sloan Spokane
Memorial service for Orville K. Sloan, 89, will be July 15 in Spokane. Burial was at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sloan, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
He served with the Army during World War II and worked as a roofer for various companies.
Mr. Sloan was a former longtime Athol, Idaho, resident and moved back to Spokane seven years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Claris O’Connor of Spokane and Joyce Birch of Oroville, Wash.; a son, Monte Sloan of Spokane; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Marian Ingalls Spokane

Mrs. Ingalls, who was born in Conde, S.D., died Thursday.
She was a homemaker and lived in Spokane for 43 years.
Survivors include her husband, Ned; two daughters, Ruth Thorne and Nancy Ingalls; a son, Joe Ingalls; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Genevieve (Altringer) Pierce Liberty Lake

Mrs. Pierce, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Tuesday.
She worked for 28 years as a comptometer for Wonder Bread.
After her retirement, she was a nanny for various area families.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Hurl; two sons, Donald Altringer of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jerry Altringer of Bellingham; two sisters, Amelia Braungardt of Spokane and Rita McFarland of Federal Way, Wash.; a brother, Mike Lombard of Spokane; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Garlinghouse Greenbluff
Service for Dorothy L. Garlinghouse, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Garlinghouse, a 64-year resident of the Inland Empire, died Tuesday.
She was born in McPherson, Kan., and in 1927 moved to Lewiston, where she graduated from high school.
Mrs. Garlinghouse was Washington State Poet Laureate in 1950 and 1951, and won numerous writing awards.
She worked for four years for the U.S. Women’s Job Corps in Moses Lake and later started the Purple Pocket, an art gallery and weaving shop in Spokane.
Mrs. Garlinghouse was a member of the Spokane Poetry Scribes, the Press Club, the Methodist Church, Home Economics Club and the Greenbluff Grange.
For five years, she coached and directed Miss Moses Lake candidates, taking Nancy Peterson on to be Miss Washington and on to the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in 1971.
Survivors include her husband, Speck Garlinghouse; a daughter, Sondra Martin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Jon Garlinghouse of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Jack Roessell of Indio, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hazel Arnold Longview, Wash.
Service for Hazel I. Arnold, 86, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.
Mrs. Arnold, a former Sandpoint resident, died Wednesday.
She was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Mrs. Arnold graduated from Kahler Hospital School of Nursing in Minnesota. She then moved to the Naples, Idaho, area near Sandpoint in 1948.
She later moved to Sandpoint and worked as a registered nurse at Sandpoint Manor before retiring in 1973.
Mrs. Arnold moved to Longview in 1994 and was a former member of the Sandpoint First Christian Church.
Two husbands, Albert Mottner and Ron Arnold, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dan Mottner of Kent, Wash.; three daughters, Janet Hooper of Liberty Lake, Jane Yandt of Spokane and Donna Sekne of Longview; a sister, Ruth Wiseman of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Georgia Carlson Spokane
Private burial for Georgia F. Carlson, 92, will be held at Riverside Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Carlson, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.
She worked from 1925 to 1929 as a waitress and hostess at the Davenport Hotel Tea Room.
During World War II, she was employed in Huntington Park, Calif., manufacturing airplane parts.
Mrs. Carlson moved back to Spokane 11 years ago.
Her husband, John, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Beryl Duenweg of Spokane; and four grandchildren.
Franklin Preston Spokane
No service will be held for Franklin G. Preston, 86, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Preston, a 62-year Spokane resident, died Tuesday.
He was born in Thompson Falls, Mont., and worked for Kaiser Aluminum Trentwood for 29 years.
Mr. Preston was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Montana.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Viola; a son, Laddie Preston of Chattaroy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rosie McClain Spokane
Memorial service for Rosie Bell McClain, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North.
Born in Texas, Mrs. McClain, died Tuesday.
She was a 33-year resident of Spokane.
In 1947 she married Robert McClain in Wyoming.
Mrs. McClain worked as a cab driver for the Yellow Cab Co. in Spokane from 1968 to 1974 and as a waitress at the Flame Restaurant from 1972 to 1974. She retired in 1974 due to a back injury.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Joseph, Wesley and Robert McClain Jr., all of Spokane; two daughters, Deanna Rhodes and Maria Mead, both of Spokane; a sister, Genevieve King of Abilene, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Stortroen Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Dorothy Josephine Stortroen, 98, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Stortroen, who was born in Minnesota, died Tuesday.
She grew up in Minnesota and taught grade school there during World War I. Mrs. Stortroen then lived in Chicago for three years before returning to Minnesota. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1953.
She was a member of Coeur d’Alene Trinity Lutheran Church.
Her husband of 51 years, Olaf, died in 1975.
Survivors include two sons, Virgil Stortroen of Spokane and Warren Stortroen of Minnesota; two daughters, Dorothy Horning of Coeur d’Alene and Noma Eygabroad of Spokane; three sisters, Olive Muser and Hulda Gaunt and Mildred Dingman, all of California; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
