Mcclellan Butte Hiker Saved; Partner Unconscious In Ravine

King County rescuers late Saturday reached one of two men who fell into a steep, icy ravine while hiking on McClellan Butte near Snoqualmie Pass.

The 28-year-old man, hometown unknown, had a broken arm, King County sheriff’s spokeswoman Joanne Elledge said.

A second man, a 30-year-old from Duvall, was still out of reach down the ravine. He was unconscious with a head injury, Elledge said.

The two fell while on a day hike on the mountain. A third member of the party hiked out and called for help Saturday afternoon.

An Army MAST helicopter could not spot the men in the snow before it got dark, so a rescue crew had to hike in, Elledge said.
