Firm Withdraws Application To Rezone Site For Wood Plant

From Staff Reports

A company that had planned to build a wood treatment plant just northwest of Post Falls has dropped its application for the zone change it would need to operate.

The hearing on that zone change would have taken place Monday night.

Officials from the company, McFarland Cascade, could not be reached for comment Monday to say why they had withdrawn their application.

When the company originally applied for the zone change, the Panhandle Health District opposed it. The health district cited concerns with potential contamination of the aquifer from chemicals McFarland Cascade would use.
