I Have Stood Up For What We Need
Cover letter
Thank you for the honor and privilege to serve in the Idaho Legislature. I’m proud to represent our Coeur d’ Alene district, folks of rich political tradition, of strong character, and of identifiable diversity.
I went to the legislature with four goals - to listen, earn respect, be fair, and make no excuses. Goals accomplished, and more. Leadership chose me to serve on the all-powerful Appropriations Committee (JFAC) as the only Panhandle member, and to serve on Transportation & Defense.
Beyond routine legislation, I am a respected voice, earning our share of state funding and advocating highway improvements. JFAC has supported area programs through my efforts at keeping members informed. My legislative motions and testimony resulted in the Idaho Transportation Board getting a clear message to fix the Mica-Belmont section of U.S. Highway 95. This unsafe, substandard roadway is now on the priority reconstruction plan.
I put a great deal of stock in my ability to work well with other legislators, yet I have stood up for what we need and will continue to do so.
When I first ran for this position four years ago, I emphasized my common sense, fiscally conservative views, endorsement of family, and concern for North Idaho. That is still what I believe today. With two successful terms behind me, progress has been made on our issues, yet more to do.
Blessed with broad-based experience, communication skills, and a college degree, I am a parent, veteran, and lifelong local resident. Truly a citizen legislator, I am employed by private industry - not retired. I ask for your vote.
