A Personal Interest In Education

W. Mark Storey

COVER LETTER

I have been a resident of Coeur d’Alene since the fall of 1991. Although I have not been an active member or participant of school board meetings, I strive to keep abreast of issues facing the district and the community. I believe that past school board members have done an outstanding job of representing our community and acting in the better interest of the residents.

My hopes in election to the school board is that I may serve the community in more than a passive manner. I feel my qualifications for the position include my background as a professional engineer and office manager for Strata Inc. My education and business background have primarily enhanced my ability as a problem solver. Additionally, I am very familiar with budgets and fiscal responsibility.

On a personal level, I have been a member of the community for several years. I have two children, the oldest of which is entering kindergarten this coming year. I feel I have a personal interest in the education offered by District 271, and feel that many other parents of young children may benefit from my appointment to the board.

I am not currently involved in day-to-day operations of the school board but am a fast learner, and willing to devote the time required to contribute positively to the district.

Thank you again for this opportunity.
