William Haile Jr. Spokane
Funeral for William D. Haile Jr., 80, will be at 2 p.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park Sunset Chapel. Burial will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haile, who was born in Mullin, Texas, died Sunday.
He served in the Navy and worked as a hospital corpsman.
Mr. Haile moved to Spokane in 1970 and was a member of Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435, the Moose Lodge, the Disabled American Veterans and Fleet Reserve Association No. 38.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Josie; two daughters, Karen Haile and Patricia Murray, both of Spokane; a brother, George Haile of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Ella Scoggins of Mesa, Ariz., and Ruby Haynes of Clifton, Colo.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Delbert ‘Sonny’ Allert Ritzville, Wash.
Visitation for Delbert Louis “Sonny” Allert, 60, will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Methodist Church in Ritzville. Graveside service will follow at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
A lifetime Ritzville resident, Mr. Allert died Monday.
He graduated in 1956 from Ritzville High School and began farming.
Mr. Allert was a commissioned cattle buyer for Spencer Livestock Co. out of Lewiston.
In 1964, he married Dorothy Solom in Coeur d’Alene, and they continued farming.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Louis Allert of Ritzville; a daughter, DelRae Buchler of Warden, Wash.; and two sisters, Vivian Grams of Ritzville and Beverly White of Blue Lake, Wash.

Lois Ronning Spokane
Memorial service for Lois Arloiene Ronning, 101, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Millwood Presbyterian Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ronning, who was born in Potter County, S.D., died Friday.
She graduated from high school in Bowdie, S.D., and in 1914 moved to Minot, N.D.
Mrs. Ronning graduated from Minot State University and taught in Columbus, N.D., where she married Joseph Ronning in 1919.
After the death of her husband in 1931, she moved to back to Minot.
She worked as an assistant librarian at the Minot Public Library and was eventually promoted to head librarian. She held that position for 22 years.
Mrs. Ronning was a member of Business and Professional Women’s Club, Quota Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and National American Library Association Council.
Mrs. Ronning worked part time at the Spokane County Library for several years after moving to Spokane.
She moved to Seaside, Ore., in 1971 and returned to Spokane in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Rowbotham of Spokane; a son, Norman Ronning of Beaverton, Ore.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Carl Warren Tacoma
Memorial service for Carl F. Warren, 75, is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the Tacoma Cemeteries and Funeral Home in Tacoma.
Mr. Warren, who was born and raised in Tacoma, died Sunday.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and then worked his way through the ranks at First Interstate Bank, ending his 42-year career in Spokane as vice president of commercial lending in the late 1980s.
Mr. Warren retired in Tacoma a few years ago after living in Spokane for for about 12 years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; three daughters, Judy of Cleveland, Ohio, and Patricia and Wendy, both of Tacoma; two sons, Michael of Spokane and William of Tacoma; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Carmel Kokinda Spokane
Private service for Carmel O. Kokinda, 76, was held. Burial was at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Kokinda, who was born in Centralia, Wash., died Tuesday.
She graduated in 1940 from Springfield (Colo.) High School.
She married Joseph Kokinda in 1953 in San Francisco and they moved to Spokane in 1969.
Mrs. Kokinda worked as a cook from 1977 until her retirement in 1987 at Eastern State Hospital.
She was a volunteer at the Medical Lake Senior Center and the Medical Lake Bible Camp.
Her husband died in 1982.
Survivors include three sons, David Kokinda of Spokane, James Robbins of Springfield, Ore., and John Kokinda of Oak Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Marjorie Taylor of Springfield, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Rose Eaton Kellogg
Service for Rose Marie Eaton, 58, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the American Lutheran Church in Kellogg. Burial will be at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Pinehurst. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Eaton, who was born in North Dakota, died Friday.
She moved to the Kellogg area in 1956 from North Dakota and worked as a waitress at The Jameson Restaurant in Wallace. She had also worked as a clerk at Morrow’s Department Store.
Ms. Eaton was a former Depot Days Queen in Wallace.
Survivors include two sons, Geary Miller of Nevada and Corey Miller of Wallace; two daughters, Twyla Ives of Kellogg and Sheila Miller of Kingston, Idaho; five sisters, Shirley Hollingsworth of Oregon and Delores Buysse, Darlene Pfenning, Linda Nixon and Pam Buckmiller, all of California; two brothers, Donald Weigum of Spokane and Delton Weigum of Florida; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

John Dean Spokane
Memorial service for John V. Dean, 74, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - North.
Mr. Dean, a 27-year resident of Spokane, died April 30.
He was born in Berwin, Ill., and graduated in 1941 from Lyon’s Township High School in Illinois.
Mr. Dean served in the Navy during World War II as a fighter pilot.
He was a former owner of Spokane Moulding Corp. and retired in 1988.
Mr. Dean was a member of Rotary Club No. 21 in Spokane, the Washington State Pilots Association, the Tailhook Association and the unofficial Felts Field Airport Bums Group. He was a former of fighter squadron VBF-7.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Maureen; four sons, Steven and David Dean, both of Spokane, Thomas Dean of Seattle and Michael Dean of Portland; a sister, Dorothy West of Downers Grove, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Anna Kennedy Newport, Wash.
No service will be held for Anna Clara Kennedy, 89. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kennedy, who was born in Spangle, Wash., died Monday.
She moved to Pend Oreille County in 1929. Three years later, she married Gordon Kennedy in Thompson Falls, Mont.
Mrs. Kennedy graduated from Washington State University and worked in schools in Newport, Cusick and Usk, Wash., as an elementary teacher until she retired in 1971.
Her husband died in 1986.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Joann Barrett of Silver City, N.M.
Esther Heffley Deer Park
Funeral for Esther Emma Heffley, 96, was Monday at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. Burial followed at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park.
Mrs. Heffley, who was born in Bloomington, Ill., died Thursday.
She moved to Spokane in the early 1920s and was a homemaker.
Her husband, Charles Heffley, died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, George Heffley, and a daughter, Frieda Jurgens, both of Deer Park; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Juan Miquelez Colfax, Wash.
Requiem Mass for Juan Miquelez, 56, will be at noon Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miquelez, who was born in Spain, died Tuesday.
He moved to the United States at the age of 18 and later worked for the McGregor Sheep and Lamb Co. in Hooper, Wash.
Mr. Miquelez then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from which he retired about four years ago.
He was a 15-year resident of Colfax and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Colfax Eagles Lodge and the Elks Lodge in Colfax.
Survivors include a daughter, Christina Miquelez of Gladstone, Mich.; two brothers, Javier and Lorenzo Miquelez, and a sister, Anuncia Miquelez, all of Pamplona, Spain; and one grandson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Whitman Hospital Foundation or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colfax.
Zora Kemp Spokane
Private service for Zora Violet Kemp, 97, will be held at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kemp, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Sunday.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Her husband of 68 years, Louis Kemp, died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Louis Kemp, and a daughter, Shirley Munger, both of Spokane; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Dorothy Adams Fairfield
No service will be held for Dorothy Bruner Adams, 90, at her request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adams, who was born in Calgary, Alberta, died Tuesday.
In 1928 she married Herman Adams in Fairfield, and they lived in Calgary and later Creston, British Columbia.
They moved to Fairfield in 1943.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker, a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church and Fairfield Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband died in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Buckner of Wenatchee and Dona Hahner-Kochheiser of Fairfield; four grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Fred Metzger Jr. Spokane
No service will be held for Fred W. Metzger Jr., at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Metzger, who died Friday, was born in Pocatello, Idaho. He was 80. He retired after 35 years with the Postal Service as a foreman.
Mr. Metzger was a 4-H leader for many years and worked with his son, Bruce, in his greenhouse selling bedding plants, flowers and vegetables after his retirement.
He was a 64-year resident of Spokane.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gladys; two sons, Bruce and David Metzger, both of Spokane; two sisters, Pat Robertson of Mellette, S.D., and Donna Sidman of Madisonville, Ky.; a brother, Rule Keeling of Chickasha, Okla.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Vernita Anderson Spokane
Funeral for Vernita Lee Anderson, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Mrs. Anderson, died Monday.
She moved to Spokane after her birth and in 1947 she married Robert Anderson in Spokane.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a member of the Canasta Club.
She is survived by two sons, Rodney and Tim Anderson, both of Spokane; three daughters, Darlene Kimball and Tammy Breithaupt, both of Spokane, and Sheri Bickelhaupt of Dayton, Wash.; a brother, Warren Harger of Roy, Utah; two sisters, Doris Benson and Marjorie Hickman, both of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Donald Nottingham Spokane
Memorial service for Donald G. Nottingham, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Inurnment will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.
Mr. Nottingham, who died Sunday, was born in Sheridan, Wyo.
He graduated from high school in Wyoming and worked at various jobs, mostly in the construction business.
Mr. Nottingham moved to Sandpoint in 1936 and helped build the Cabinet Gorge and Albeni Falls dams. He also worked for several power companies before his official retirement in 1981.
He was a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
Mr. Nottingham moved to Spokane after his retirement.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Hazel; three daughters, Donna Hutton of Sandpoint, and Sharon and Sandra, both of Spokane; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Craig Tompkins Federal Way, Wash.
Funeral for Craig Wesley Tompkins, 45, was April 8 in Federal Way. Graveside service was April 9 at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Tompkins, who was born in Ritzville, died April 6.
He graduated from Sandpoint High School and had lived in Ritzville for a few years before moving to Federal Way in the late 1980s.
Mr. Tompkins had worked for Boeing as a technical designer for the past 10 years. He also worked on B-2 Stealth bombers and the Sealaunch programs.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Lisa Stanton of Federal Way, and Corey and Genia Tompkins, both of Vancouver, Wash.; a son, Craig Tompkins Jr. of Vancouver; his parents, Thomas and Helen Tompkins of Ritzville; and three sisters, Nancy Tompkins of Sandpoint, Kathlene Buche of Mesa, Ariz., and Lucinda Tompkins of Ritzville.
William Young Buzzard Lake, Wash.
Memorial service for William Wesley Young, 70, was Monday at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. Inurnment was held at the Beaver Creek Cemetery in Twisp, Wash.
Mr. Young, who was born in Deer Park, died May 5.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a self-employed commercial painter.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Young Strong of Deer Park; a son, Bruce Young of Spokane; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
