Young People Honored By Local Dar Chapter
The Jonas Babcock Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently honored young people from the Inland Northwest for their good works.
Clay Wilken was selected as winner of the DAR’s Junior American Citizens contest, “A Patriot’s Plan for the Future.”
Wilken, a junior at Sprague High School, entered his projects, which include 1,000 hours working with WatchDog and crosswalks, and renaming streets.
His entry has been forwarded to the state competition.
He is the son of Craig and Joy Wilken.
Both Kristi Engles, Sprague High School, and Ryan Gauthier, Lakeside High School, were selected as school representatives to the DAR’s Good Citizens Program, which encourages, promotes and honors our country’s future leaders.
Engles, active in basketball and volleyball, has also received the Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award, was named to her school’s honor roll and listed in Who’s Who in American High Schools.
Gauthier, involved in tennis and cross-country, is a member of the National Honor Society and worked with the See the Light program to help children learn to eat healthy and live healthy lifestyles.
Air Force Senior Airman Thomas W. Dill, son of Walter Dill of Post Falls, and Shelby Robinson, Spokane, graduated from the Airman Leadership School at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
Dill, a flight engineer assigned to the 552nd Training Squadron at Tinker, is a 1990 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School.
Navy Fireman Arron Thompson received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and was named Junior Sailor of the Quarter.
Thompson, a 1994 graduate of Colville High School, is the son of Dan and Janet Thompson, Colville.
