Boeing Lands Orders From Alaska, Delta

From Staff

Delta Air Lines has ordered four 757-200s, one extended-range 767-300ER and one 737-800, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group said Tuesday.

Alaska Airlines, meanwhile, said it has ordered six new 737s and taken options on another four.

Delta is to receive its new 737 in August 1999. The four 757s are to be delivered between August and November 1999, and the 767 is to be delivered in April 1999.

No value of the order was announced, but at Boeing’s list prices, it would be worth between $394 million and $439 million. Large customers like Delta, however, usually negotiate discounts to those prices.

John F. Kelly, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Alaska Air Group, announced his airline’s orders at the company’s annual meeting. The value of the orders and options, he said, was $425 million.

Alaska’s firm orders are for one 737-400 and five 737-700s. The 737-400 and two of the -700 models will be delivered in 1999, and the remaining three aircraft in 2000.
