Orville Kirking Coeur d’Alene

Viewing for Orville P. Kirking, 81, will be today from 9 a.m. to noon at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene with memorial service scheduled at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Kirking, who was born in North Dakota, died Wednesday.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1937 from North Dakota and worked at the Coeur d’Alene Creamery until it became Early Dawn Dairy in 1978.

Mr. Kirking was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and had been involved with many organizations, including the Jaycees, the Idaho Milk Processors, the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis and the Selective Service Board.

He also served on the Coeur d’Alene City Council and was a board member of Coeur d’Alene Homes retirement center.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; a daughter, Orla Rae Kahl of Vancouver, Wash.; and two brothers, Kenneth Kirking of Coeur d’Alene and Marvin Kirking of Sagle, Idaho.

Donald Sizemore Moscow, Idaho

Memorial service for Donald Eugene Sizemore, 68, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moscow. Private burial will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sizemore, who was born in St. Maries, died Wednesday.

He attended schools in Post Falls and then served with the Marine Corps for several years before transferring to the Army, from which he retired as a staff sergeant in 1968.

Mr. Sizemore worked as a security guard at Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe, Nev., for six years and then returned to Post Falls and worked as a janitor for local schools and at the Post Falls post office.

He then worked as a security guard at Spokane International Airport before moving to Moscow in 1989 to be near family.

He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moscow.

Survivors include a brother, James Sizemore of Anchorage, Alaska; and three sisters, Shirley Carrico of Moscow, Anne Johnson of Texas and Margery Seaking of Oregon.

Preston Bunney Princeton, Idaho

Funeral service for E. Preston Bunney, 97, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Princeton. Burial will follow at Mendenhall Cemetery near Potlatch, Idaho. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bunney, who was born in Lebanon, Neb., died Tuesday.

He came to the Princeton area with his family in 1912. He graduated from high school in Princeton and began farming with his father.

In 1927 he married Laura Henderson in Moscow, Idaho. They made their home in Princeton where they continued to farm and raise cattle.

Mr. Bunney worked for Potlatch Forests and the Princeton-Harvard Highway District during the winter months and during the 1940s he served for several years as the commissioner for the Princeton-Harvard Highway District.

His wife died in 1974.

Survivors include a son, Paul Bunney of Princeton; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Norman Randell Spokane

Memorial service for Norman John Randell, 70, will be at 7 p.m. May 28 at Fourth Memorial Church. Riplinger Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Randell, who was born in Potlatch, Idaho, died Wednesday.

He moved to Spokane from Potlatch 65 years ago and was a self-employed landscaper.

Mr. Randell was a member of Fourth Memorial Church.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Darlene; two sons, John and Daniel Randell, both of Spokane; a daughter, Kathy Randell of Auburn, Ga.; a brother, Brian Gustafson of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

John Conne Spokane

Funeral for John W. Conne, 73, is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Mr. Conne died Tuesday.

He worked for URM for 30 years before retiring in 1987.

Mr. Conne was 55-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

He is survived by his wife Inez; four sons, Raymond, Paul, Alan David and Ward Conne; three daughters, Anita Arnold, Linda Wolcott, and Shay Kathrens; a stepson, Ken Massender; a stepdaughter, Jackie Zimmerman; a sister Patricia Wright; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Naomi Schwendiman Lee’s Summit, Mont.

Funeral for Naomi Garner Schwendiman, 86, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery.

Mrs. Schwendiman, who was born in Sugar City, Idaho, died Monday.

She graduated from Sugar City High School in 1930.

In 1934, she married John Schwendiman in Salt Lake City. They moved to Moscow, Idaho, and later to Pullman.

Mrs. Schwendiman was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She moved to Lee’s Summit in 1996 to be closer to family members.

Her husband died in 1992.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Schwendiman of Plano, Texas, Gary Schwendiman of Lincoln, Neb., Gene Schwendiman of Vancouver, Wash., and Dee Schwendiman of Valleyford, Wash.; one daughter, Karen Davis of Lee’s Summit; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

James Hunt Spokane

Funeral Mass for James A. Hunt, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hunt, who died Tuesday, was born in Columbus, Texas.

From 1940 to 1945 he worked for the FBI before becoming an attorney. He practiced law in Victoria, Texas, from 1946 to 1964, and in Grass Valley, Calif., from 1965 to 1988.

He moved to Spokane after retiring in 1988.

Mr. Hunt was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Harriet; a son, Jimmy Hunt of Grass Valley; a daughter, Helen Hunt of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.

Andrew Bjork Spokane

Private memorial for Andrew F. Bjork, 83, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bjork, who was born in Ashland, Wis., died Wednesday.

He grew up in Grand Rapids, Mich., and then served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Bjork, a resident of Spokane for 46 years, worked construction in the area.

His wife Clara died in 1994.

Mr. Bjork is survived by three sisters; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Winifred Lawrence Pomeroy, Wash.

Funeral for Winifred M. Lawrence, 91, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richardson-Brown Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow at Pomeroy City Cemetery.

Mrs. Lawrence, a lifetime Pomeroy resident, died Tuesday.

She grew up on the Start family homestead north of Pomeroy and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1926.

Mrs. Lawrence then graduated from Lewiston Business College and worked for Bristol Meat Company and later as a receptionist and bookkeeper for a three-doctor clinic in Lewiston.

In 1931 she married Arthur O. Lawrence and they moved to Spokane where she lived for 46 years. Her husband died in 1967.

She was a member of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the Episcopal Canterbury Guild, the Spokane Rose Society, and the Telephone Pioneers Association.

Mrs. Lawrence returned to Pomeroy in 1995.

She is survived by a sister, Doris Perry of Pomeroy.

Eva Cael Spokane

Graveside service for Eva F. Cael, 89, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Holy Cross Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cael, who died Wednesday, was born in Chicago.

In 1936 she married Ambrose Cael in Eureka, Mont.

She came to Spokane in 1949 and worked as a nurse for Deaconess Hospital. She retired after 20 years.

Mrs. Cael was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Her husband died in 1989.

She is survived by two sons, John Cael of Spokane and Michael Cael of Woodland, Wash.; three brothers; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
