Children Find Bones In River

From Staff

Bones found along the Spokane River on Sunday are being analyzed to determine if they’re human or animal remains.

Kids found what they believed were a human spine and ribs partially submerged in the Spokane River a half-mile north of the T.J. Meenach Bridge, said Spokane Police Sgt. Joe Peterson.

The children’s father called police Monday and detectives collected the bones at about 3:45 p.m. near Downriver and T.J. Meenach, Peterson said.

“They appear to be animal bones, but just to make sure they’re going to have them analyzed,” he said. “It was probably a deer.”
