Man Electrocuted In Power Line Accident

A Brewster, Wash., man was electrocuted Sunday while working on a power line north of U.S. Highway 2.

Michael H. Watkins, 52, was working near a crane being used to remove power poles on Eastside Road, according to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Department. The crane accidentally touched a high-voltage line and the jolt hit Watkins.

He was transported to the Newport, Wash., hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Watkins was working for Mountain Power Co. at the time of the accident. Further details, including whether the crane operator was injured, were not available.
