Fire Damages Apartment Complex

An early morning fire caused about $15,000 in damage Tuesday to the Eagle Point apartment complex at 2718 N. Bowdish Road.

A candle, apparently left burning on a bedroom dresser, is the likely cause of the fire, Valley fire inspector Eric Olson said.

The fire set off alarms just before 1 a.m., causing residents of the complex to evacuate the building. The fire started in the bedroom of a second-floor apartment, but did not spread past the room, Olson said. It took firefighters just a few minutes to put it out.

The woman living in the unit, 29-year-old Linda Seeberger, was not home at the time of the fire, Olson said. Her bed, dresser and clothes were damaged.
