High School Seniors Invited To UI Scholars Program
Local outstanding academic high school seniors have been invited to attend the University of Idaho as UI Scholars.
The scholars program, which was initiated to help reduce the number of top Idaho students who pursued an education out-of-state, provides an annual $3,000 scholarship which is renewable for up to four years.
The scholars scored in the top 1 percentile nationally on the ACT test and in the top 2 percentile on the SAT test.
Students, their hometowns and schools are:
Coeur d’Alene: Anthony Russo, Coeur d’Alene, Lake City High School.
Hayden Lake: Douglas Welling, Hayden Lake, Coeur d’Alene High School.
Moscow: James Bielenberg, Moscow High School; Annike Christophersen, Moscow, Logos School; Ellie Graham, Moscow High School; Elizabeth Herbst, Moscow High School; Justin Horn, Moscow High School; Jared Miller, Logos School; and Raymond Thomson, Moscow High School.
Post Falls: Jeffrey Diteman, Post Falls High School.
Princeton: Forrest French, Potlatch High School.
Glen Cosby, son of Estelle Jernigan of Coeur d’Alene, recently graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a doctorate of philosophy.
Pvt. Andrea L. Day, daughter of Mark Day of Post Falls, recently arrived for duty at Fort Benning, Ga.
Day, a 1997 Lakeland High School graduate, is a medical specialist.
Army Pfc. Mark F. Burgeson, son of Don and Barb Burgeson of Coeur d’Alene, has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
Army Pvt. Alexander M. Widgren, son of Nathian Widgren of Clark Fork, Idaho, and Iris Tynan of Wyoming, recently departed for basic military training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
