Have Some Fun At Artfest ‘98

ArtFest ‘98 continues today and Sunday on the grounds of the Cheney Cowles Museum, 2316 W. First.

This year’s edition features 51 artists who earned placement by having their work juried. Each artist will have works to sell and many will demonstrate their skills throughout the festival.

Gourmet food from a variety of restaurants, live music and an evening beer and wine garden will be available.

Hands-on workshops for children of all ages will include face painting, easel painting, paper marbling, and creating clay figurines and balloon sculptures. Fees will range from 50 cents to $1.50 per project.

Hours are 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.

There will be free, continuous shuttle service by the STA trolley to and from the festival from the AAA parking lot at 1717 W. Fourth.

2-3 p.m.: Harold Balazs, mystery guest

3:30-4:30 p.m.: Gina Freuen, hand-built ceramics

5-6 p.m.: Kathleen Cavender, pastel painting

Sunday

10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Ken Spiering, watercolor painting

1-2 p.m.: Margaret Regan, polymer clay

2:30-3:30 p.m.: Natura, sculpture

4-5 p.m.: John Benn, hand-thrown ceramics

11:15 a.m.: Celtic Nots, Celtic tunes

12:30 p.m.: Spokane Falls Brass Band with Ann Fennessey

3 p.m.: Ken Glastre and Bonnie Haines, junkyard blues

11 a.m.: Philip Boulding, harp

12:15 p.m.: Wylie and the Wild West, country/honky-tonk

1:30 p.m.: Too Slim Unplugged, blues

2:45 p.m.: Casey MacGill and Miss Lee Lee, rhythm and blues, jazz, swing

4 p.m.: Bethel AME Gospel Choir
