Raft Rules Explained
Salmon River
Forest Service officials who have proposed strict quotas on the number of rafters who will be allowed to float portions of Idaho’s Salmon River drainage are coming to Spokane to explain the issue.
“We wanted the Forest Service to come to an area where there are a lot of private boaters who will be affected by reducing the size of parties floating the Middle Fork and main Salmon,” said Paul Delaney, spokesman for the Northwest Whitewater Association.
“Normally, you had to travel a long way to places like Challis, Salmon or Riggins to voice your opinion on what could be drastic and farreaching changes in the allocation of river permits,” he said.
The association invited officials to speak Wednesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Mountain Gear, 2002 N. Division.
