Evelyn (Coldwell) Setzer Spokane

Memorial service for Evelyn E. (Coldwell) Setzer, a longtime Spokane resident, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Regency Care Center Northpointe Chapel. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Hannibal, Mo., Mrs. Setzer died Oct. 14. She was 81.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Orchard Prairie Garden Club.

Her husband, Walter, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Clyde Setzer, and a sister, Margarette Withers, both of Spokane; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

William Bennett Spokane

Private inurnment for William L. “Bill” Bennett, a former Spokane attorney, will be held at a later date in Palouse, Wash. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bennett, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday. He was 76.

He graduated from North Central High School before joining the Army Air Corps.

Mr. Bennett graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law and in 1949 began practicing law.

From 1954 to 1958 he was a Circuit Court judge and then joined Willard Sharp and Robert Twigg in private practice.

Mr. Bennett was an attorney for the Senate in 1969 and worked in Olympia for Insurance Commissioner Karl Herman from 1970 to 1975.

He then returned to Spokane and was an attorney for Playfair Race Course until his retirement in 1981.

He was a member of the Spokane Bar Association and the Spokane Elks Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Martin of Wilbur, Wash.; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or Hospice of Spokane.
