Look For ‘Faith & Values’ Page
Next Saturday, we will begin expanding and improving our coverage of faith issues.
The name and look of our Saturday Religion page will change to better reflect the diversity of thought about spirituality in our region. The page will be called “Faith & Values.”
And because so many people are interested in such issues, we will feature stories on faith and values on the cover of Saturday’s IN Life section a couple times a month.
Inside, on Page 3, some new features will be added, including short profiles of houses of worship and of spiritual leaders. Each will have a picture, and each will give curious readers a glimpse of where others worship and who leads groups of us in our spiritual quests. These two features will alternate every week.
If you are wondering about a church or other house of worship that you drive by often, let us know and we’ll try to find out about it. Or about a spiritual leader.
Another improvement will be the addition of short columns by readers, be they pastors, parents, singles, teenagers; everyone is invited to contribute. We ask that these columns be about spiritual quests, how we seek out the holy in our daily lives, or about important and defining moments in our faith journeys. The space limit is 400 to 500 words. We’ll publish these every other week.
Paul Graves of Sandpoint will continue to write columns.
Our notes column will focus on events that appeal to the community at large.
And we will continue to publish the very best stories of national and international importance.
There is a downside to all these additions: We no longer will have space to publish the calendar of services. This calendar has grown so long that we don’t have space for content that appeals to a broader range of readers.
So instead, we will be using that space for such content.
