Mary Lyons Silverton, Idaho
Service for Mary Lyons, 88, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Silver Wood Good Samaritan Center in Silverton. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Lyons, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, died Saturday.
She moved to Kellogg in 1920 and graduated from Kellogg High School and then worked as a secretary for the Kellogg superintendent of Schools and for Dr. McCaffery’s office.
Miss Lyons later lived in Seattle and worked for the Veterans Service before returning to Kellogg in 1962.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Kellogg.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Erna Lyons, both of Kellogg.
Charlotte Butler Warden, Wash.
Memorial service for Charlotte Butler, 62, is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at Warden Community Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden. Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Butler, who was born in Wallace, died Monday.
She graduated from Mullan (Idaho) High School.
In 1958 she received a teaching degree from the University of Idaho and moved to Warden. In 1962 she married Robert Butler.
For 32 years Mrs. Butler taught first grade at Jeannette Evans Elementary School in Warden. She retired in 1990.
She was a member of the Parent Teacher Association and Warden Women’s Civic Club. She received the Women of Achievement and Teacher of the Year awards.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sheri Kisler of Warden; and two grandchildren.

Lydia (Hopp) Krell Odessa, Wash.
Funeral for Lydia M. (Hopp) Krell, 95, was Wednesday at Heritage Church in Odessa. Burial will be at Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose, Calif.
A lifetime Odessa resident, Mrs. Krell, died Sunday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Heritage Church, Odessa Hospital Auxiliary and Odessa Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, George Grey and Edward Krell.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marilyn Bryant of Boise; a stepson, Richard Krell of Bremerton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Orville Dickey Keizer, Ore.
Private service will be held for Orville W. Dickey, 85, today in Keizer. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Salem, Ore. Restlawn Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dickey, a former Spokane resident, died Sunday.
He was born in Alva, Okla.
In 1937 he married Edith Ragain. He worked in the grocery business in the Oregon cities of Newport and Albany.
In 1944 he moved to Spokane and worked for Kaiser Aluminum before retiring as a foreman in 1971.
Mr. Dickey moved to Salem in 1989 and recently had moved to Keizer.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Darryl Dickey of Reseda, Calif.; a daughter, Darla Torrisi of Keizer; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Robert O’Neill Coeur d’Alene
No service will be held for Robert J. O’Neill, 74, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. O’Neill, who was born in North Dakota, died Oct. 23.
He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1955 and served as a Kootenai County Sheriff marine deputy.
Mr. O’Neill was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 889.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; a son, John O’Neill of Arizona; and two brothers, Jim O’Neill of Tacoma and Archie O’Neill of Portland.
Hugh Cheesman Post Falls
No service will be held for Hugh Franklin Cheesman, 91, at the family’s request. Burial will be at EvergreenWashelli Cemetery in Seattle at a later date. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cheesman, who was born in North Dakota, died Monday.
He grew up in Montana and Spokane and had delivered the Spokane Chronicle.
Mr. Cheesman graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor of arts degree in Far East trade and business administration, and trained in the ROTC program and was involved with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
He then joined the Marine Corps and lived in Seattle until moving to California in 1974. Mr. Cheesman worked as a banker and loan manager for many years.
In 1974 he moved to Post Falls to be near family.
He was a member of the Seattle Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Virginia; two sons, Joe Cheesman of Post Falls and Hugh Cheesman of Edmonds, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
Marvin Seimer Greenacres
Memorial service for Marvin R. Seimer, 46, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Deer Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Seimer, who was born in Chewelah, Wash., died Thursday.
He worked as a cabinetmaker for Huntwood Industries for several years and was vice-president of the I.O.O.B Motorcycle Club in Spokane.
Survivors include a son, Travis Seimer of Spokane; his former wife, Linda Seimer of Spokane; three stepsons, Mike Hibbs of Spokane, Jaysen Kuhn of Medical Lake, and Don Jonas of Redmond, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Moczygemba of Bitburg, Germany; his companion, Wendy Hendricks of Spokane; his mother, Amy Hirsch of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a brother Dan Seimer of St. Maries; two sisters, Diane Rice of Veradale and Marilyn Sylvester of Spokane; and a stepgrandson.
Cathryn Overland Dover, Idaho
Memorial service for Cathryn A. Overland, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Mrs. Overland, who was born in Sacramento, Calif., died Sunday.
She graduated from high school in Sacramento in 1953 and moved to the Sandpoint area in 1968.
Mrs. Overland worked for Northern Lights as a computer analyst, retiring after 28 years.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Willis; two daughters, Tammi Damiano of Sandpoint and Debbie Damiano Hunt of Spokane; a son, Frank Damiano of California; a stepson, Neal Overland of Sandpoint; and nine grandchildren.

Joseph Valente Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Joseph A. Valente, 71, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Valente, who was born in Spokane, died Nov. 3.
He grew up in Coeur d’Alene and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary High School and later moved to California.
Mr. Valente worked as a mapping engineer for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in California, retiring after 30 years.
He returned to Coeur d’Alene in 1990 and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was a fourthdegree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; a stepson, Robert Hawkins of Rathdrum, Idaho; three daughters, Joanna Parker of Post Falls, and Tina Valente and Katrina Gaylord, both of California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Alta Meserve Kootenai, Idaho
Service for Alta Plato Meserve, 102, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Sandpoint. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Meserve, who was born in Iowa, died Saturday.
She moved to Bonners Ferry in 1900, graduated from high school there in 1915 and then attended Lewiston Normal School.
Mrs. Meserve taught school in the Bonners Ferry area for three years and then moved to Sandpoint and taught school off and on over the years.
Mrs. Meserve lived in Sandpoint for 35 years before moving near Kootenai, Idaho.
She was a member of the Selle Grange, Extension Club, the United Methodist Church, the Iris Club and the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Chapter 34, of Sandpoint.
Mrs. Meserve spent the past 25 winters in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl.
Survivors include three sons, Bob Meserve of Spokane, Carl Meserve of Buckley, Wash., and Stan Meserve of Sandpoint; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Frank Self Ponderay, Idaho
Private service for Frank Self, 70, will be held at a later date. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Self, who was born in Illinois, died Nov. 4.
He served with the Army Air Corps and later the Air Force until retiring. He moved to the Sandpoint area in 1966.
Mr. Self contracted water and sewer systems in the Sandpoint area.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Raynelle; three stepchildren, Willard Piehl of Sandpoint, Jean Way of Alaska, and Eleanor Dunning of Enumclaw, Wash.; a brother, Jim Self; and three sisters, Audrey, Claire and Mary.
William Marko Spokane
Funeral for William J. Marko, 72, will be at 11 a.m. today at HennesseySmith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born in Webster, S.D., Mr. Marko died Saturday.
In 1948 he married Shirley Mack. They moved to Spokane in 1957.
He owned and operated Marko’s Sprinklers for 40 years and was a member of the Lions Club and Eagles Lodge.
Mr. Marko is survived by his wife; two sons, Steven Marko of Medical Lake and Rod Marko of Elk; a brother, Paul Marko of Boise; three sisters, Mary, Celia and Antonia, all of South Dakota; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ida (CaHail) Frugoli Cashmere, Wash.
Memorial service for Ida Mae (CaHail) Frugoli, 89, is at 1:30 p.m. today at St. James Episcopal Church in Cashmere. Ward’s funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Frugoli, who was born in Leavenworth, died Monday.
She graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane in 1928.
In 1941 she moved to San Francisco and moved to Spokane in 1979.
Mrs. Frugoli worked for Pacific Bell Telephone for several years.
In 1990 she moved to Leavenworth and recently moved to the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
She was a member and past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star Ivanhoe Chapter in Spokane, and St. James Episcopal Church in Cashmere.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Frugoli of Alexandria, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Willima (LeFever) Garpestad Ione, Wash.
No service is planned for Willima Susan “Willy” (LeFever) Garpestad, 79, at her request. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Garpestad, who was born in Newport, died Oct. 26.
In 1933 she moved to the Priest River, Idaho, area.
Mrs. Garpestad worked as a medical librarian for veterans hospitals in Butler, Pa., Oklahoma City, and Sheridan, Wyo. She also worked as a bookkeeper, post office cashier, model, farmer and fund-raiser in various communities.
From 1981 to 1990 she worked as a receptionist at Sullivan Lake Forest Service office in Ione, Wash.
She was a member of the Supreme Council, Order of the Amaranth Inc., in Sheridan, Wyo.
Survivors include a stepson, Bruce Garpestad of Spokane; a brother, Jack Parker of Marysville, Wash.; a sister, Shirley Gallanger of Stevenson, Wash.; and two grandchildren.
Roy Berglund Spokane
Visitation for Roy E. Berglund, 78, is planned for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Berglund, died Tuesday.
He worked as an accountant in the Spokane County Treasurer’s Office for 38 years and retired in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil; a son, Charles Berglund, and a daughter, Lisa Berglund, both of Spokane; and a sister, Elsie Meier of Spokane.

John McDermott Spokane

Mr. McDermott, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.
He was a grocer in the Northwest for 40 years, working as a manager of Akins Grocery in Othello, Wash., from 1976 to 1982. He owned and operated Buy Well Foods for 10 years in Spokane.
We was a member of the Gonzaga Prep alumni.
Survivors include a son, Mike McDermott of Spokane; three daughters, Cindy McDermott and Christine Mundel, both of Spokane, and Cheryl Davis of Enumclaw, Wash.; a brother, Joe McDermott of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.
