Abc Cuts ‘Secret’

The Hollywood Reporter

ABC has decided not to extend the life of new comedy “The Secret Lives of Men.”

Seven episodes of the sitcom starring Peter Gallagher have aired in the 9:30 p.m. Wednesday slot. Thirteen episodes of “Secret” have already been produced, but it’s uncertain when and where ABC will air the remaining six.

As previously announced, ABC will fill the 9:30 p.m. slot with a repeat episode of “The Drew Carey Show” this week, followed by a repeat of “Dharma & Greg” on Nov. 25.

In other November sweep news, CBS will temporarily bench the new dramas “To Have and to Hold” and “Buddy Faro” this week. Both dramas are expected to return to CBS’ schedule in December. The eye instead will air an installment of “48 Hours” at 9 p.m. Wednesday and the special “Funny Flubs and Screw-Ups” at 9 p.m. Friday. The bloopers special is hosted by Kevin James (“King of Queens”).

Stewart back as Scrooge

Patrick Stewart has been signed to star in a new big-budget version of “A Christmas Carol” for TNT. The new two-hour production featuring a significant level of special effects, returns Stewart to the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge, for which he won the Olivier Award for his critically praised stage performance.

TNT executive vice president of original programming Julie Weitz said the network expects to sign high-profile actors for many of the cameo roles in the classic Charles Dickens story. Weitz said the story will be darker in tone than most of the adaptations of “A Christmas Carol.”
