Developer Will Meet With Moran Council In/Around: Moran Prairie

A developer planning a commercial development at 57th and the Palouse Highway is expected to meet with Moran Prairie neighbors tonight.

A group identified as Columbia Construction is seeking to build a minimarket, office and fast-food outlet at the northeast corner of the intersection.

Leaders of the Moran Prairie Neighborhood Council said they are concerned about the project’s effect on nearby wetlands.

The council meets at 7 p.m. tonight at the Moran Prairie Grange at 61st and the Palouse Highway.

The agenda includes a presentation by the sheriff’s office about an effort to emphasize neighborhood policing. Two deputies recently were stationed at the fire District 8 station near 57th and Regal, said Greg Sweeney, a neighborhood leader.

During the meeting, the council will also talk about the latest developments in a proposal to build a supermarket, offices and apartments at 57th and Regal.

Also, a redevelopment of the veterinary office at Manito Veterinary Hospital at 2308 E. 57th is up for discussion.
