FOR THE RECORD: November 24, 1998: Listing wrong: A community Thanksgiving service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Post Falls Community Presbyterian Church at Fifth and William. The description of the event was wrong in a listing in Saturday’s Community Events column in the IN Life section.

Thanksgiving services

“One Planet, One People, Please” is the theme for the Interfaith Thanksgiving Day Service at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone. Featured speaker will be the Rev. John Olson, executive director of the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries, which is sponsoring the service.

The service will also feature the Rev. Linda Hart of the Unitarian Universalist Church, David Gregory of the Baha’i Faith, Rabbi Jack Izakson of Temple Beth Shalom, the Revs. Karen Martin and Flora Bowers of the United Methodist Church, the Rev. Michael Rice-Sauer of Covenant Christian Church, Don Weber of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and Gary Singer of the Spokane Food Bank.

Members of the Buddhist, Native American and Hindu communities will also participate.

The offering will benefit the Spokane Food Bank, and canned goods are welcome. (624-5156)

The community is invited to join the congregations of the Episcopalian Church of the Resurrection, Good Shepherd Lutheran and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church for a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The three Valley neighborhood churches often have joint events. This year’s service will be at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Road. The Rev. Lothar Pietz will give the homily.

Canned goods will be collected for the Spokane Food Bank. (928-3210)

The congregations of the Post Falls Community Presbyterian and Calvary Lutheran churches will join with the Community Presbyterian Church at Fifth and William for a Thanksgiving dinner at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Post Falls Mayor Gus Johnson will give a Thanksgiving proclamation. The offering will benefit the Post Falls Food Bank. (208) 773-5321)

Theater

Traveling actor Leonardo Defilippis will present a one-man show “St. Francis: Troubadour of God’s Peace” at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 4515 N. Alberta.

St. Francis of Assisi was the son of a wealthy Italian merchant who turned to a life of poverty and sacrifice for God. He is the patron saint of animals.

Defilippis travels the United State depicting the lives of various saints.

The one-hour show is suitable for all ages. Admission is by donation.

Men’s Night Out

Bob Morey, author of 40 books, will speak at Men’s Night Out at 7 p.m. Monday at the Calvary Chapel of Spokane, 511 W. Hastings Road.

Morey is president of the Research and Education Foundation, executive director of the California Institute of Apologetics and hosts the radio program “Truth Seekers.”

Some of his books have been listed in Christianity Today’s annual “Best Books of the Year” and the Christian Booksellers Association’s “The Best of Good Books.” (467-2860).
