Man Injured When Struck By Pickup

A man hit by a pickup truck Friday night was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center with serious injuries.

At about 5:45 p.m., Kenneth L. Lovitt, 66, of Spokane was crossing Sprague Avenue between Park Road and Vista, police said.

Wayne B. Weller, 27, of Spokane, was driving east on Sprague and hit Lovitt, the Washington State Patrol reported. Apparently, Lovitt - who was not in a crosswalk - thought traffic in all lanes was stopped, officers said.

Weller was not injured, but Lovitt was treated for a fractured leg, arm and pelvis, as well as internal injuries.

No charges were filed against Weller.
