Pullman Hospital Bond Falls Short

The Pullman hospital bond measure has failed by a slim margin, according to Whitman County auditors.

The official certified vote tally was 3,197 yes votes and 2,180 no votes.

That means 59.45 percent of the voters approved the measure, but it wasn’t enough for the 60 percent approval required by law.

The bond would have allowed construction of a 22-bed, $16 million new hospital as part of a comprehensive care community being developed on Bishop Boulevard.

Pullman Memorial Hospital officials said the close vote shows there is already significant community support for a new facility. Voters will likely face a similar bond issue again next year.
