Ernest Manderscheid Coulee City, Wash.
Funeral for Ernest C. Manderscheid, 89, will be at noon Wednesday at the Hartline (Wash.) United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Hartline Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Manderscheid, who was born in Trivola, Okla., died Saturday.
He graduated from Seiling (Okla.) High School and moved to Twisp, Wash., in 1934.
Mr. Manderscheid was involved with the Grand Coulee Dam project before moving to Alaska in 1941. During World War II, he worked as a carpenter in Fairbanks and Sitka, returning to Spokane in 1944.
He continued working as a residential construction carpenter, mostly for the AAA Construction Co. in Spokane before retiring in 1974.
In 1978 he moved to Coulee City. Mr. Manderscheid was a 52-year member of the Spokane Moose Lodge and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 98.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Clemancy; five sons, Don and Mark Manderscheid, both of Spokane, Eldon Manderscheid of Bellingham, Bill Manderscheid of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and Mike Magers of Green Bay, Wis.; three daughters, Sandra Miller and Glenna Blackburn, both of Spokane, and Sherrie Hendricks of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Ivan Manderscheid of Clinton, Okla., and Clifton Manderscheid of Issaquah, Wash.; a sister, Alice Walker of Burien, Wash.; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
James Simpson Newman Lake
Funeral for James T. Simpson, 80, will be at 1 p.m. today at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel in Trentwood. Private burial will precede the service. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Simpson, who was born in Edmond, Okla., died Friday.
He moved to Tennessee in 1933 and to Eastern Washington in 1935, graduating from Otis Orchards High School in 1937.
Mr. Simpson worked on the family dairy farm in Newman Lake, and from 1943 to 1946 was a member of the Washington National Guard. In 1946 he joined the Washington Air National Guard, serving until 1951.
From 1951 to 1952 he served in the Air Force and in the Air Force Reserves from 1952 to 1953.
Mr. Simpson continued to work as a dairy farmer in Newman Lake during and after his military service, and was a member of the Tri-Community Grange and the Northwest Dairyman’s Association.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary; two sons, James and Craig Simpson, both of Newman Lake; a daughter, Jane Remmick of Hayden, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Lucille (Shearer) Fieldstad Olympia
Memorial service for Lucille May (Shearer) Fieldstad, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Westside Alliance Church in Olympia. Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary in Centralia, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Fieldstad, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
She graduated from West Valley High School, and in 1938 married Norman Fieldstad.
They moved to Olympia in 1964. Mrs. Fieldstad was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tedd Fieldstad of Rochester, Wash., and Eric Fieldstad of Emmett, Idaho; two brothers, Edwin Shearer of Spokane and Charles Shearer of Gig Harbor, Wash.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

June Judge Spokane
Memorial service for June Irene Judge, 80, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.
A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Judge died Wednesday. She was born in Ordway, Colo.
She moved to Spokane in 1920 and in 1936 graduated from North Central High School, where she played tennis, basketball, volleyball and track.
In 1941 she married James Judge.
Mrs. Judge worked for the Federal Housing Administration, where she was one of the first two women to become an appraiser.
Mrs. Judge then worked for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for 30 years before retiring in 1979.
She was a member of the National Story League and had served as president from 1960 to 1964.
Mrs. Judge was also a member of the Merry Makers of the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 1474, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary 6 and St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
Her husband died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, James Judge Jr. of Olympia; and a sister, Helen Engard of Spokane Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern Washington.
Gilbert Pierce Jr. St. John, Wash.
Memorial service for Gilbert W. Pierce Jr., 78, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. John Community Building. Private inurnment was previously held at the St. John Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pierce, who was born in Pampa, Wash., died Friday.
He lived and attended schools near LaCrosse, Wash., and Colfax before moving to Spokane. In 1929 he moved to Albion, Wash., and then to Pullman and Ewan, Wash., working for various farmers and ranchers for many years.
In 1948 he married Patricia Reed, and they lived in Spokane and Rosalia, Wash.
In 1953 they moved to St. John and he became the manager of St. John Grange Supply. He retired in 1982.
Mr. Pierce was a member of the Lamont Grange and the St. John Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Deborah Lillquist of Spokane and Beth Zehm of Spangle; a son, Ward Pierce of St. John; three brothers, Gail Quarders of Loon Lake, Melvin and Herb Quarders, both of Pasco; two sisters, Cleo Farrell and Pauline Pierce, both of Spokane; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ruth (Curtis) Weatherman Spokane
Graveside service for Ruth L. (Curtis) Weatherman, 87, will be at 2 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at Covenant Christian Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Weatherman died Saturday.
She graduated from Hillyard High School and married Earl Weatherman in 1934.
Mrs. Weatherman worked as a waitress in restaurants.
She was a member of Covenant Christian Church and the Grandmothers Club.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Earl Weatherman of Yakima; two daughters, Carol Johnson of Spokane and Barbara Shupe of Whitehall, Mont.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Robert Parcher Spokane
Memorial service for Robert A. “Bob” Parcher, 68, was held Monday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4004 N. Belt. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Parcher, who was born in Oakland, Calif., died Friday.
He graduated from Colfax (Wash.) High School in 1948 and moved to Spokane in 1949.
In 1955 he married Arlene Buttman.
He worked for Safeway as a store manager from 1956 until his retirement in 1993.
Mr. Parcher was a 43-year member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Audubon Branch, a member of the Hillyard Rotary from 1966 to 1968 and the Colville (Wash.) Chamber of Commerce from 1970 to 1974.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Allen Parcher and David George, both of Spokane; a daughter, Rita Heldenbrand of Spokane; a brother, Abbot Parcher of Spokane; three sisters, Lois Parcher of Olympia, Lola Parcher of Colfax and Nancy Berry of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

Leona Smolkowski Spokane
Funeral for Leona “Lee” Smolkowski, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A longtime Spokane resident, Mrs. Smolkowski died Friday. She was born in Austin, Minn.
She worked as a federal telecommunications system switchboard operator at the Spokane Federal Building. She retired in 1986.
Mrs. Smolkowski was a volunteer with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Stanley; three daughters, Susan Lykins of Spokane, Judy Thompson of Post Falls and Barbara Cobb of Richland; a son, Martin Smolkowski of Renton, Wash.; three sisters, Hazel Hattell, Laurie Picken and Dolores Walker, all of Spokane; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Witham Spokane
Funeral for Mary Witham, 73, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
A 42-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Witham died Thursday. She was born in Czechoslovakia.
She retired from the Washington State Employment Security Office. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary.
Her husband, Harvey, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Davis of Spokane; five daughters, Frances Makarczyk, Jacqueline Hone and Georgann Dahlen, all of Spokane, Adele DuCharme of Olympia and Tina Melendez of Atlanta, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Rick Spokane
Funeral for Kenneth R. Rick, 54, will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mr. Rick died Thursday. He was born in Cody, Wyo.
He was a painter and a member of the Painters Union Local 269.
Survivors include five brothers, James, Charles, Wayne, Richard and Jerry; and six sisters, Patty, Billie, Betty, Jackie, Barbara and Kathryn.
Mary Carlson Spokane
Funeral Mass for Mary E. Carlson, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Fish Creek, Mont. Burial will be at Fish Creek Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Carlson, who was born in Waterloo, Mont., died Thursday.
She graduated from Whitehall (Mont.) High School and Butte (Mont.) Beauty School.
In 1940 she married John Carlson and they lived in various cities in Montana before moving to Spokane in 1947.
Mrs. Carlson was a homemaker and a member of St. Thomas More Parish and Altar Society.
Her husband died in 1979.
Survivors include three sons, Edwin, Edward and Wayne Carlson, all of Spokane; a daughter, Frances Zacherl of Hood River, Ore.; a brother, Joe Buhl of Whitehall; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cora Duffy Spokane
Funeral Mass for Cora Duffy, 95, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Duffy, who was born in Curlew, Iowa, died Friday.
She moved to Montana in 1910 and taught school for a few years in the early 1920s.
In 1925 she married Robert Duffy. They lived in Everett and Alaska before moving to Spokane in 1963.
Her husband died in 1963.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Delaney of Spokane; two sisters, Rose Williamson of Burlington, Wash., and Hazel Chaffee of Missoula; two grandsons and one great-grandson.

Mary Sisson Issaquah, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Mary Kathryn Sisson, 79, was Monday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mrs. Sisson, who was born in Birmingham, Ala., died Wednesday.
She served as a registered nurse first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps and later worked as a head nurse in a hospital.
Mrs. Sisson moved to Spokane in 1950.
She worked as a registered nurse at Sacred Heart Medical Center, where she was instrumental in the development of the Intensive Care Unit.
She moved to Issaquah in June.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Russell; a daughter, Ritz Gesinger of Issaquah; a sister, Jane McNeeley; and three grandchildren.
Clara Wagoner Newport, Wash.
Graveside service for Clara Wagoner, 74, was held Saturday at the Newport Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wagoner, who was born in Lexington, Ky., died Thursday.
She was a homemaker, and was a member of the By Grace Through Faith Church in Newport.
Mrs. Wagoner had been a resident of Newport since 1980.
Survivors include her husband Jake; a son, Donald Hobbs, and a daughter, Janice Castillo, both of Newport; a sister, Jewell Buckner of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Maragret Fancher Spokane
Memorial service for Margaret M. Fancher, 83, was Monday at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. A 60-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Fancher died Nov. 10. She was born in St. Anthony, Idaho.
She worked in the office at General Telephone Co. for several years.
Mrs. Fancher is survived by a stepdaughter, Margo Fancher of Auburn, Wash.
