Confidence Boosts Dollar

The dollar rose against most major currencies Tuesday as consumer confidence in the U.S. economy continued even as Wall Street retreated from a new peak.

The dollar wavered throughout the session in listless trading ahead of Thursday’s Thanksgiving holiday. Many traders were hesitant to make heavy bets going into the holiday.

The dollar gained support Monday from a 215-point gain in the Dow Jones industrial average, which capped a nearly 2,000-point rally in four months and put the average at a new high of 9,374.27 after summer lull.
