Paint Store Burglarized

A Valley paint store was burglarized late Saturday night and again early Sunday morning.

A firm monitoring security at United Paint and Coating, 14109 E. Sprague, noted that someone using the store manager’s entry code entered the store at 9:07 p.m. Saturday.

Because of the odd hour, the security service called the store manager at home.

She went to the store and found the front door unlocked and a small amount of money missing from the cash register, according to police reports.

Store employees said someone took five $20 bills and a $100 bill, leaving all the small bills behind.

Noting no other damage, the manager then secured the door and went home.

She got another call at 11:23 p.m. She went back to the store and found the door unlocked again, but no apparent entry. She locked the door and went home. At 2:50 a.m., the manager got another call from the security firm about another entry. She went to the store and found the same door was unlocked but nothing taken.

“We have no leads,” said Jason Wadley, an outside sales representative at the store. “We’re assuming it’s an inside job.”

Police are still investigating.
