Falls Christian Posts First Quarter Honor Roll

Falls Christian Academy has announced the honor roll for first quarter. Students and their grade-point average are listed by grade level:

High honor roll (3.6-4.0 gpa)

Linda Carlson, Kellogg, has been named the Shoshone Medical Center (SMC) Employee of the Month for November.

Carlson, who has worked at SMC since August of 1997, was praised for quality work, dedication, impressive technical ability and a desire to learn new skills. She has also taken over SMC Blood Bank duties and is part of the laboratory team.

Jacey L. Vogrig has completed the cadet basic training program at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

She is the daughter of John Vogrig, Spokane, and Joice Vogrig, Priest River, Idaho.

Michael J. Jewett, son of Catherine Erickson of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and James Jewett of Spokane, has enlisted in the Army as a network switching systems operator-maintainer and recently departed for basic training at Fort Sill, Okla.

Lynn E. Guertin, son of Alma and Richard Guertin of Rathdrum, Idaho, has joined the Army as an aircraft structural repairer and recently departed for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Four local North Idaho Army National Guard recruits recently arrived at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for one station unit training.

The servicemen are : Pvt. Anthony E. Anderson, son of Betty and Elton Anderson of Sandpoint; Pvt. Raul E. Barajas, a 1998 graduate of Lake City High School and son of Raul and Maria Barajas of Coeur d’Alene; Pvt. Ron R. Couch, a 1998 graduate of Lake City High School and son of Ron Couch of Coeur d’Alene; and Pvt. Jeremy L. Rinauro, a 1997 graduate of Lakeland High School, and son of Randall Rinauro of Post Falls and Tammy Fenley of Coeur d’Alene.

Instruction will include recognizing and neutralizing booby traps, land mines and firing devices, combat construction and rigging operations, and operation of light and heavy engineer-wheeled and armor-tracked vehicles.

Army Pvt. Michael F. Goulart Jr., son of Michael Goulart Sr. of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Connie Goulart of California, has graduated from basic military training at Fort Benning, Ga.

He received instruction in military justice, courtesies, drill and ceremony, physical fitness, weapons and map reading.

Army Spec. Scott M. Howerton, son of Diane Cardwell of Athol, Idaho, has graduated from a 72-day ranger training course at the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga.

Howerton, a 1995 Post Falls High School graduate, participated in training phases in the mountains of Georgia, the deserts of Texas and the Florida swamps and received training in developing combat functional skills for planning, and conducting ground, airmobile, airborne and waterborne patrolling operations.

He is a food service specialist assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis, Tacoma.

Air Force Airman Adam J. West, son of Margie and Brian West of Colburn, Idaho, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

West earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force and received six weeks of training in the Air Force Mission, human relations, organization and customs.
