Harry Sasse Kalispell, Mont.

Funeral for Harry Christian Sasse, 87, was held Wednesday at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lakeside, Mont. Burial was at Elim Cemetery in Brush Prairie, Wash. Johnson Mortuary in Kalispell was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sasse, who was born in Omaha, Neb., died Sunday.

He grew up in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Spearfish, S.D.

In 1928 married Annie Johaneson, and they lived in Spearfish before moving to Battleground, Wash., in 1939. She died in 1958.

In 1959 he married Hilma Uskoski, and they lived in Battleground until 1969, when they moved to Elk before moving to Whitefish, Mont., for a few years.

Mr. Johaneson and his wife moved to Rockford, where they lived until 1984, when they moved to Kalispell. His second wife died in 1996.

Mr. Sasse was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lakeside.

Survivors include three daughters, Helen Christensen of Vancouver, Wash., Janet Richards of Orchards, Wash., and Evelyn Wilen of Cougar, Wash.; five sons, Robert Sasse of Yacolt, Wash., Albert Sasse of Blain, Okla., Donald Sasse of Billings, Mont., Willis Sasse of Kalispell and Edgar Sasse of Gaines, Mich.; 37 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Wilfred Wakelam Spokane

Memorial service for Wilfred L. Wakelam, 77, will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Lodge, 315 E. Francis. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wakelam, who was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, died Sunday.

He was raised in Spokane, and enlisted in the Army in 1942 and the Air Force in 1949. He retired as a master sergeant after 25 years of service.

Mr. Wakelam was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45, the Concordia Masons and Eagles Lodge No. 2.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Emily; two sons, Roger Wakelam of Anchorage, Alaska, and Rex Wakelam of Trapper Creek, Alaska; a brother, Warren Littell of Spokane; and two granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Spokane.

Wayne Madren Spokane

Funeral for Wayne Madren, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A 65-year Spokane resident, Mr. Madren died Tuesday. He was born in West Branch, Iowa.

He co-owned and operated the Madren Brothers Toyota dealership in Hillyard for more than 40 years.

Mr. Madren was a member of the Spokane Country Club, North Hill Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Elk Katif Shrine.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Blanche; two daughters, Elouise Johnson and Darlene Anderson, both of Spokane; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Robert Spencer Whidbey Island, Wash.

Memorial service for Robert Randall Spencer, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coupeville, Wash. Visser Funeral Home in Langley, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Spencer, who was born in McCook, Neb., died Monday.

He moved to Spokane in 1944 and graduated from Gonzaga Prep.

Mr. Spencer worked for the Great Northern Railway, which later became the Burlington Northern Railroad, for 10 years.

He worked throughout the Inland Empire as a contractor, primarily as a partner with Pemco Construction, until he retired in 1985 and moved to Whidbey Island.

Mr. Spencer then began selling real estate and worked at building a six-acre garden at his home for several years.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Spokane from 1944 to 1971, and owned property at Diamond Lake, where he had built a lake home.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gerrie; two daughters, Colleen Hammer and Shelly Ess; five sons, Steven, David, Joseph, Mark and Robert Spencer; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Boys Ranch in Spokane.

Edna (Colvin) Harding Post Falls

Visitation for Edna Lucille (Colvin) Harding, 77, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

A 14-year Post Falls resident, Mrs. Harding died Monday. She was born in Kansas City, Mo.

She married Ralph Harding in 1984 and worked as a cashier in retail sales for many years.

Mrs. Harding was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Post Falls and the Rose of Sharon Church in Spokane.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph, a brother, John Colvin of Missouri; and a sister, Ada Gibson of Knoxville, Tenn.
