Uncontested Races In Bonner County

Tue., Oct. 6, 1998

Bonner County voters will be asked to vote in uncontested county treasurer and coroner races on Nov. 3.

County Treasurer Shannon Syth is running for her first election on the Republican ticket.

She was appointed in July 1996 following the resignation of Karen Weldon.

Weldon resigned after being charged with embezzling county funds.

Since Syth was appointed, she helped expose another suspected embezzler - Pat Achziger in the road department.

Achziger is currently awaiting extradition from Tucson, Ariz., to face charges in the case.

Also running unopposed is County Coroner Dale Coffelt.

Coffelt owns a local funeral home and has served as county coroner since 1972.

He also is a Republican.
