Frances Oursland Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Frances Cecilia Oursland, 82, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Life Care Center in Coeur d’Alene. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oursland, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Friday.

She was lifelong Coeur d’Alene area resident and a homemaker.

Mrs. Oursland moved to the Life Care Center in Coeur d’Alene in 1996.

Her husband, Martin, died in 1984.

Survivors include five children, Eugene Oursland and Mary Steele, both of Post Falls, Daniel and Gary Oursland, both of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Patricia Nutting of Coeur d’Alene; three brothers, William Bell of Spokane, Earl Bell of Hayden Lake and Harold Bell of Wallace, Idaho; and two sisters, Peggy Hiatt of California and Mary Edwards of Wallace.

Laverne Carlson Coeur d’Alene

Service for Laverne L. Carlson, 81, will be Saturday in Elgin, Ill. Burial will be in Illinois. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Carlson, who died Monday, was born in Chicago.

She lived in Elgin and worked at the Bordon Chemical Co. until moving to Coeur d’Alene two years ago.

Mrs. Carlson was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Elgin.

Her husband, George, died in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Smith of Missouri and Jean Norton of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Wilbert Prigge of Pennsylvania; a sister, Violet Peters of Elgin; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Virginia Bockemuehl Spokane

Memorial service for Virginia O. Bockemuehl, 78, will be at 2 p.m. today at Audubon Park United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bockemuehl, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.

She was a postmaster for the Postal Service in Spokane for many years.

Her husband, Howard, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, James and Jack Bockemuehl, both of Spokane; a sister, June Bauer of Spokane; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Audubon Methodist Church.

Letha Clausen Spangle

Graveside service for Letha R. Clausen, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Waverly Cemetery. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Fairfield, Mrs. Clausen died Sunday.

She graduated from Waverly High School and married Ordean Clausen in 1948.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard Clausen of Hardin, Mont., and Randy Clausen of Tacoma; a brother, Alden Gerling of Spokane; a sister, Sister June Tveden of Otis Orchards; and two grandchildren.

Willis Mattausch Deer Park

Funeral for Willis E. Mattausch, 67, is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Deer Park.

Born in Fairfield, Mr. Mattausch died Sunday.

He was a long-haul truck driver for Darigold and also worked as a dispatcher.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; three daughters, Marlene Palmer of Spokane, Earline Carter of Blaine, Wash., and Joline Dixon of Loon Lake; two stepdaughters, Ramona Field of Spokane and Debbie Corey of Newport, Wash.; a brother, Lawrence Mattausch of Cusick, Wash.; a sister, Audrey Hutchins of Palo Alto, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Jerry ‘Chink’ Pattin St. Maries

Memorial service for Jerry “Chink” Pattin, 58, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries.

Mr. Pattin, who was born in Illinois, died Sunday.

He grew up in Illinois and moved to St. Maries 10 years ago.

Mr. Pattin had worked as a janitor for Archie’s IGA and the Korner Klub before retiring two years ago due to illness.

Survivors include his brother, Martin Pattin of Kansas; two stepbrothers, Steve Pattin of Illinois and Don Whiting of Washington state; a sister, Charlotte Williamson of Missouri; a stepdaughter, Pam Passwater of Oregon; his stepmother, Maxine Pattin of Oregon; and two stepsisters, Jeannie Collins and Shirley Walker, both of Oregon.

Lavern Lillquist Post Falls

No service will be held for Lavern Lillquist, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Post Falls, Mr. Lillquist died Sunday. He was 74.

He was a lifetime Post Falls area resident and served with the Army in the 69th Tank Battalion as a medical technician during World War II, and received the Certificate of Merit Citation.

Mr. Lillquist had worked as a laborer for the East Greenacres Irrigation District.

Survivors include two sisters, Jean Peterson of Coeur d’Alene and Maybelle Benedict of Alaska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Main Palouse, Wash.

Visitation for Kenneth S. Main, 66, will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Main, who was born near Palouse, Wash., died Sunday.

In 1965 he married Joyce Boyd.

He worked on the family farm south of Palouse and also worked for several years as a welder for R.A. Hanson Co. during the winter months. He retired from farming in 1993.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Moscow, Idaho, and was a member of the board of directors for the Latah County Grain Growers.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark Main of Palouse and Darryl Main of Stanwood, Wash.; a daughter, Tommy Dawdy of Palouse; two stepdaughters, Debbie Hill and Diane Main, both of Palouse; a stepson, Dale Cook, ; two brothers, Leonard Main of Palouse and LaWayne Main of Juliaetta, Idaho; and seven grandchildren.

Evelyn Wilcox Spokane

Memorial service for Evelyn Mae Wilcox, 86, will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Audubon Park United Methodist Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wilcox, who was born in Elgin, Ill., died Tuesday.

She graduated from high school in Elgin and married Donald Wilcox in 1933.

Mrs. Wilcox retired from the cashiers office at Sears department store in Illinois after 18 years prior to moving to Spokane. She lived in Spokane for 29 years.

She was a member of the Audubon Park United Methodist Church, the Boulevard Garden Club and the Associated Garden Club.

Her husband died in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Wilcox of Spokane; a son, Paul Wilcox of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Audubon Park United Methodist Church.

Floyd Gepford Spokane

Memorial service for Floyd C. Gepford, 77, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Mr. Gepford, who was born in Wolsey, S.D., died Sept. 24.

He was self-employed in the landscaping and gardening business and had been a resident of Spokane for 30 years.

He is survived by a niece, Jean Bryant of Marysville, Wash.

Gary McKenna Coeur d’Alene

Service for Gary Lynn McKenna, 52, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. A reception will follow at the Yates Gathering Center, Hayden Chapel. Mr. McKenna, who was born in Utah, died Oct. 1 from complications following a bone marrow transplant.

He grew up in Utah and Wyoming and then served with the Army during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Washington D.C., with the Old Guard.

Mr. McKenna worked in heavy equipment sales after his military service and lived in Southern Idaho before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1992.

He was recently manager of Triad Machinery in Spokane and was a youth sports coach.

Survivors include his wife, Marybeth; three children, Ben and Missy McKenna, both at home, and Karen Davis of McCall, Idaho; his mother, Luella McKenna of Utah; a brother, Dennis McKenna, and a sister, Judy Peeler, both of Utah; and two grandchildren.

Sister Veronica Schweizer, O.P. Spokane

Vigil for Sr. Veronica Schweizer, O.P., 87, will be at 7 p.m. today at the Dominican Center. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the center. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sr. Schweizer, who was born in Mannheim, Germany, died Tuesday.

She entered the Dominican Sisters Congregation in Speyer, Germany in 1953 and became an American citizen in 1959. She made her final vows in Kettle Falls, Wash., in 1960.

Sr. Schweizer’s ministry was housekeeping and cooking. She worked at St. Mary’s Mission in Omak, Wash., St. William’s in Shelby, Mont., St. Mary’s Hospital in Conrad, Mont., and Carroll College in Helena.

She was the first cook at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center in Spokane from 1960 to 1965, and in 1972 was assigned to Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Wash., where she cooked and lived until 1996, when she retired to the Holy Names Center in Spokane.

She is survived by a niece, Helga Krautscheider of Germany.

Grace Silva Medical Lake

Funeral for Grace G. Silva, 68, will be at 9 a.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Silva, who was born in Honolulu, died Tuesday.

She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Medical Lake for the past 12 years.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, John; two sons, Clyde and Lance Silva, both of Medical Lake; two brothers, Wayne and Kenneth Calderia, both of Honolulu; a sister, Pamela Pao of California; and six grandchildren.

Frank Flagan Spokane

Private service will be held for Frank W. Flagan, 72, at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Flagan, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

He served in the Army during World War II and worked as a construction engineer for the Department of Transportation for 31 years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Virginia; two daughters, Patricia Henry of Spokane and Jackie Hutchins of Portland; four brothers, Robert, Grant, Arthur and Hugh Flagan; and six grandchildren.

Charles Sharp Clarkston, Wash.

Rosary service for Charles T. Sharp, 86, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston.

Mr. Sharp, who was born in Republic, Wash., died Sunday.

He graduated from North Central High School. He received a law degree from Gonzaga University Law School in 1938.

During law school he worked for the Farm Credit Administration and as a clerk stenographer. He later worked there as an associate attorney.

He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 in Saipan and the Marianas Islands during World War II. From 1946 to 1947 he was an adjunct professor of property law at Gonzaga.

In 1947 he moved to Clarkston, where he had a law practice and co-owned Asotin County Title.

Mr. Sharp was the former Asotin County prosecuting attorney, Clarkston Municipal Court Judge and former chairman of Asotin County Housing Authority and Tri-State Hospital Board of Directors.

He retired from his private practice in 1993.

He was a member of the Washington State and American bar associations, the Washington State Prosecutors Association and the Washington State Municipal Judges Association. He was also a member and past commander of the American Society of Hospital Attorneys.

Mr. Sharp was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife Simone; three daughters, Sallie Rainville of Springfield, Ore., Mary Jo Burns of Auburn, Wash., and Nancy Sharp NtiAsare of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; a brother, Robert Sharp of Sprague, Wash.; two sisters, Carol Connolly of Vancouver, Wash., and Jean Reagan of Santa Cruz, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lester Goulet Chewelah, Wash.

Vigil service for Lester George Goulet, 85, is planned for 7 p.m. Friday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Rosary Catholic Church in Chewelah. Burial will be at Chewelah Catholic Cemetery.

Born in Tampico, Wash., he died Tuesday.

He raised cattle and was a farmer.

Mr. Goulet was a member of the St. Mary of the Rosary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Names Society.

Mr. Goulet is survived by his wife, Annette; two sons, Kenneth and Rolland Goulet, both of Chewelah; a daughter, Dolores Caviness of Auburn, Wash.; three half-sisters, Evelyn Raymond of Quincy, Wash., Harriet Wesea of Othello, Wash., and Betty Jean Yaden of Kennewick.

Martha Bueschke Odessa, Wash.

Funeral for Martha M. Bueschke, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Odessa Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Odessa Cemetery. Strate Funeral Home in Odessa is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bueschke, who died Monday, was born in Szlodov, Poland.

She was a homemaker and a member of Odessa Christ Lutheran Church and the German-American Society of Spokane.

Mrs. Bueschke had been a resident of Odessa for more than 10 years.

Survivors include two sons, Edgar Bueschke of Spokane, and Theodore Bueschke of University Place, Wash.; a daughter, Nelly Kissler of Odessa; a sister, Amalia Ofenbeck of Vernon, British Columbia; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
