Jean Fillingim Seattle
Memorial service for Jean Marie “Jeanie” Fillingim, 39, is planned for 3:30 p.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Born in Spokane, Mrs. Fillingim, died Oct. 2 after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Reno, Nev.
She graduated from Shadle Park High School, where she was a student body officer and tennis player. She was runner-up for the City of Spokane tennis championship in 1976.
Miss Fillingim worked at the IMAX Theater, Riverfront Park, the Opera House and the Coliseum before moving to Seattle and graduating from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in English.
She returned to Spokane and worked at The Spokesman-Review for a short time before moving back to Seattle, where she was employed as an administrative assistant for Holland America Lines for 13 years. In 1996 she became a flight attendant for Reno Air Lines and was based out of Seattle.
Miss Fillingim was a member of St. Margaret’s Parish, the Olympic Athletic Club and Jack and Jill Softball, all in Seattle. She also was a volunteer for various senior citizen organizations in Seattle.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Fillingim of Spokane; three brothers, Randy and Tom Fillingim, both of Seattle, and Patrick Fillingim of Dayton, Ohio.
Sara Lund Williston, N.D.
Memorial service for Sara Marie Lee Lund, 18, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Spokane 7th Ward. Burial was in White Earth, N.D.
Miss Lund, who was born in Spokane, died Sept. 19 from complications due to diabetes.
She lived in both Williston and Spokane over the years, and attended Shadle Park High School.
Miss Lund received her GED certificate and was enrolled at the University of North Dakota-Williston in the diesel mechanics program.
She was previously enrolled at Carol Lee’s Dance Studio in Spokane and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her parents, Larry and Carolyn Lund of Spokane; three brothers, Sean, James and Zackery Lund, all at home; her grandmothers, Sylvia Bragg and Dolores Grubb, both of Williston; her grandfather and stepgrandmother, Adolph and Evelyn Lund of Spokane.
Elizabeth Spencer Spokane
Service for Elizabeth A. Spencer, 94, will be at 1 p.m. today at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mrs. Spencer, who was born in Sandpoint, died Tuesday.
She lived in Sandpoint until moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1942 and then worked in the fashion department for 25 years at Montgomery Ward.
Mrs. Spencer moved to Spokane 18 months ago and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Coeur d’Alene, the Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Eagles Lodge Aerie and was a charter member of the Lady Elks of Coeur d’Alene.
Two husbands preceded her in death, Arbie Campbell in 1963, and Robert Spencer in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Chaffins of Spokane and Lois Doyle of Moscow, Idaho; a stepdaughter, Joan Cogswell of Sandpoint; a sister, Iris Schedler of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Arne Savage of Spokane; two grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Charles ‘Bob’ Pence Spokane
No service will be held for Charles R. “Bob” Pence, 73, at his request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Mackay, Idaho, Mr. Pence died Wednesday.
He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and later graduated from Idaho State College.
Mr. Pence was a pharmacist and worked in Spokane.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy; a son, John Pence of Spokane; a brother, Rene Pence of Crooked River Ranch, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

Mary McMillan Colville, Wash.
Memorial service for Mary A. McMillan, 96, will be at 11 a.m. today at the First Congregational Church in Colville. Private graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Sterling, Colo., Mrs. McMillan died Wednesday.
She graduated from Sterling High School in 1920 and earned her teaching certificate from Cheney Normal School.
In 1922 Mrs. McMillan moved to Colville, where she taught and coached basketball.
In 1925 she married David McMillan. They farmed and operated a ranch near Orin, Wash., for many years.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Athenaeum Club, Washington Cattle Women, Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Stevens County Historical Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Brandt of Colville and Sarah Bunnell of Portland; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Weldon Rhuby Fairfield
Graveside service for Weldon F. Rhuby, 86, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Fairview Cemetery in Rockford. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Fairfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rhuby, who was born in Forks, British Columbia, died Tuesday.
He graduated from Moscow (Idaho) High School in 1930 and worked in construction until 1934, when he married Frances Kellogg.
They moved to Elk City, Idaho, where they mined for gold and ranched for several years. They later moved to Washington, where he owned mechanical and petroleum businesses in Garfield, Oaksdale, Rockford and Rosalia. He retired in 1977 and later moved to Fairfield.
Mr. Rhuby is survived by a son, Frank Rhuby of Rosalia; two daughters, Linda Frederickson of Kennewick and Carol Fisher of Farmington, Wash.; a sister, Eveyln Gosling of Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Dorothy Clark Boise
Memorial service for Dorothy Mae Clark, 71, will be today in Boise. Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel in Boise is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clark, who was born in Lewistown, Mont., died Oct. 2.
She grew up and graduated from high school in Lewistown and then moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Clark later moved to Boise and worked for Morrison Knudsen for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989.
Her husband, Charles, died in 1988.
Survivors include three daughters, Patty Riggs, Barbara Clark and Beverly MacFee, all of Boise; four sisters, Evelyn Clutter of California, Emma Puryear of Arizona, Betty Morgan of Oregon and Lucille Deitz of Mill Creek, Wash.; a brother, John Feyk of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren.

John Parkhill Spokane
Visitation for John G. Parkhill, 52, will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Sunday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Funeral is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Marshall (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mr. Parkhill, who died Wednesday, was born in Wenatchee.
He served in the Vietnam War and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for many years.
Mr. Parkhill was a 40-year Spokane resident and had also lived in Sagle, Idaho.
Survivors include a daughter, Laurine Logerwell of Liberty Lake; a son, Steven Parkhill of Opportunity; his mother, Evangeline Parkhill, and a brother, James Parkhill, both of Spokane; a sister, Nancy Taylor of Eugene, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
Thomas Dawson Spokane
Funeral Mass for Thomas W. Dawson, 63, was Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Dawson, a longtime Spokane resident, died Oct. 3. He was born in Lewiston.
He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1957 and worked for banks in Washington state for 25 years followed by several years in the real estate development business.
Mr. Dawson was a member of the Sacred Heart Hospital chapel.
Survivors include numerous cousins.
Warren Schutz Spokane
Funeral for Warren Schutz, 73, is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake, Wash.
Mr. Schutz, who was born in Kennewick, died Thursday.
He came to Spokane in 1938.
Mr. Schutz served in the Navy aboard the USS Oakland during World War II in the Pacific.
At one time he owned Phase II, a restaurant on East Sprague, and the Chattaroy Hills Restaurant.
Mr. Schutz also worked as a heavy equipment operator on road construction for 25 years. He retired in the mid 1980s.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hillyard Post 1474 and the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include four daughters, Diana Barr and Donna Swift, both of Spokane, Connie Scott of Randle, Wash., and Carolyn Kunard of Mukilteo, Wash.; a sister, Marie Oliver of Newport, Wash.; two brothers, Richard Schutz of Newport and Joseph Schutz of Walla Walla; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Donald LaSalle Spokane
Vigil service for Donald M. LaSalle, 74, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Wallace, Mr. LaSalle died Wednesday.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
He worked as a barber.
Mr. LaSalle was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hillyard Post 1474 and St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Mr. LaSalle was a 70-year resident of Spokane.
Survivors include his wife, Anne; two sons, Jack and Joe LaSalle, both of Spokane; a stepson, Michael LaBella of Spokane; two daughters, Tari Beach of Spokane and Donna Hamberger of California; two stepdaughters, Marianne LaSalle of Spokane and Darlene LaBella of Yakima; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ethan Crawford Sr. Spokane
Memorial service for Ethan E. Crawford Sr., 91, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Riverview Terrace Chapel. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Crawford, a longtime Spokane resident, died Friday. He was born in North Adams, Mass.
He graduated from Durry High School in North Adams and from Norwich University in Montpelier, Vt.
Mr. Crawford worked as an insurance salesman for various companies, including Prudential Insurance. He was also a salesman for the Mason Shoe Company for a few years.
He was a member of the Royal Arch (York) Masonic Lodge 234, the York Rite Bodies and the Knight Templers.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth; two sons, Charles Crawford of Spokane and Ethan Crawford Jr., of Bellevue, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Norma (Byrd) Swift Spokane
Memorial service for Norma E. (Byrd) Swift, 87, is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday at Manor Care Convalescent Center. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.
Ms. Swift, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.
She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Meat Cutters Union in Spokane for many years.
Mrs. Swift was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Parent Teacher Association, the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary and the Martin Street Gang.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Fodey of Spokane; two sons, Jerry Byrd of Spokane and Ross Byrd of Ellensburg; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wayne Lyon Spokane
Private service for Wayne R. Lyon, 89, was held.
Mr. Lyon, who was born in Davenport, Iowa, died Sept. 30.
He was the sales manager for F.O. Berg Tent and Awning Company from 1945 to 1975.
Mr. Lyon was a resident of Spokane since 1941.
Survivors include his wife, Beth; a daughter, Jerelyn Harris; a sister, Stella Marks of Spokane; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Dale LaMon II Newport, Wash.
Memorial service for Dale Thomas LaMon II, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Newport Assembly of God Church. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. LaMon, who was born in Burlington, Vt., died Tuesday.
He moved to the Pacific Northwest in the mid-1980s and worked in the construction industry.
Mr. LaMon was attending his second year at the Spokane Community College satellite in Newport.
He was a member of the Newport Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Brianne and Laurissa LaMon of Spirit Lake, Idaho; his mother and stepfather, Billie and Richard Geaudreau of Spirit Lake; a brother, John LaMon of Newport; three stepsisters, Celeste Reed of Spokane, Angela Hughes of Spirit Lake and Tamarra Jenkins of Rock Springs, Wyo.; two stepbrothers, Michael Geaudreau of Spokane and Richard Geaudreau of Blanchard, Idaho; a half-brother, Steven, and four half-sisters, Nadine, April, Joyce and Deanna, all of California.

Ceola Smith Spokane
Funeral for Ceola Sarah Smith, 83, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith, who was born in Marceline, Mo., died Wednesday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Linwood Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Smith had been a resident of Spokane for 33 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Morton, and a son, Jeff Renfrow, both of Spokane; a stepson, Ronald Smith of Spokane; a stepdaughter, Rene O’Kitsy of Seattle; several grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Maurice Paradis Spokane
Graveside service for Maurice A. Paradis, 50, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Cemetery in Trentwood. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Paradis, who was born in Glens Falls, N.Y., died Sunday.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
After his military service, Mr. Paradis moved to Spokane. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum Mead from 1976 to 1986. He then moved to Reno, Nev., where he worked as a pit boss at Boomtown Casino.
He returned to Spokane in 1995.
Survivors include a daughter, Danielle Evans of Coeur d’Alene; a son, Jon Paradis of Spokane; his father and stepmother, Maurice and Florence Paradis of Greenville, N.C.; his mother, Winifred Burlett of Glens Falls; a sister, Marie Trombley of Queensbury, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Paradis of Strasburg, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
