How they scored

First quarter

Oregon 7, WSU 0

Reuben Droughns 5-yard run. Nathan Villegas kick. 10 plays, 86 yards, 5:03. After opening up with a 38-yard pass play, the Duck benefited from a third-down pass interference call on WSU’s Dee Moronkola to keep their drive alive.

Oregon 14, WSU 0

Droughns 1-yard run. Villegas kick. Four plays, 39 yards, 1:19. On a third-and-15, the Ducks went to the air as Akili Smith found Damon Griffin at the 1. WSU’s Lamont Thompson appeared to also have control of the ball, but the refs ruled in favor of the Ducks.

Oregon 21, WSU 0

Michael Fletcher 61-yard punt return. Villegas kick. One play, 61 yards. Fletcher was able to take the ball right up the gut and received the breaking block from Terry Miller to go all the way.

Second quarter

Oregon 24, WSU 0

Villegas 46-yard field goal. Eleven plays, 49 yards, 4:21. The Ducks kept their drive alive with a fake punt at their own 41.

Oregon 24, WSU 7

Jeremy Thielbahr 1-yard run. Rian Lindell kick. Nine plays, 71 yards, 4:02. The Cougars started the drive with a 38-yard run from Kevin Brown and ended it on a fourth-and-1 from the 1 when Thielbahr went over the top.

Oregon 31, WSU 7

Droughns 14-yard pass from Smith. Villegas kick. Three plays, 66 yards, 1:31. Droughns took off on a 50-yard scamper to set up the swing pass score from Smith.

Oregon 38, WSU 7

Chad Chance 5-yard pass from Smith. Villegas kick. Eight plays, 38 yards, 2:59. Smith went 4 of 5 on the drive for 27 yards, Droughns picked up the rest on the ground as the Ducks scored the sixth straight time they touched the ball.

Third quarter

Oregon 38, WSU 14

Dee Moronkola 91-yard kickoff return. Lindell kick. Moronkola took the opening kick off all the way back, avoiding attempted tackles by Tamoni Joiner, Gary Barker and Justin Peelle.

Oregon 44, WSU 14

Griffin 69-yard pass from Smith. Kick failed. After a failed run, incomplete pass and penalty, the Cougars had the Ducks stuck with a third-and-14. Smith, with plenty of time, was able to easily find Griffin.

Oregon 44, WSU 21

Paul Mencke 24-yard run. Lindell kick. Four plays, 54 yards, 1:03. Mencke completed two passes to Leaford Hackett for 15 yards. The Ducks committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to put the Cougars at the 24.

Fourth quarter

Oregon 44, WSU 29

Brown 1-yard run. DeJuan Gilmore two-point conversion. WSU’s Chris Martin picked up a Droughns fumble at the 48 and returned it to the Oregon 26. Mencke then found Hackett across the middle to set the Cougars up at the 1.

Oregon 51, WSU 29

Droughns 15-yard run. Villegas kick. Twelve plays, 72 yards to 7:03. The Ducks used Droughns to put together their longest drive of the day and ruin any chances of a Cougars comeback.
