Wider coverage a plus

This is in response to Clyde Lewis’ letter to the sports editor of Sunday, Oct. 11 (“GSL coverage lacking”).

Do you think The Spokesman-Review is only read in the city of Spokane? I think it is actually available throughout Eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Are the student athletes of the GSL the only ones deserving of coverage? Where would you suggest the student athletes, parents and fans of the Frontier, Great Northern, Bi-County and other surrounding A & B leagues get our sports coverage?

For years, those of us interested in more than the GSL have had to settle for “five lines” (or less) of coverage on our schools. This year, I think the S-R has done a better job of covering all the area high school football games, mixing up which games and schools are featured each week.

I hope you choked on your butterless bread when you read the 100-plus lines by Mike Vlahovich on the East Valley-West Valley rivalry football game! (Oct. 10.) Nice article, Mike!

To the sports editors, keep on covering sports of ALL the area high school teams. There is life outside the Spokane city limits, and we read The Spokesman-Review. Delaine Britton Spokane
