Plant Smashed Truck Windshield

Police are trying to determine how a potted plant tumbled from a freeway overpass last weekend and shattered the windshield on a truck passing below.

Truck driver Johnny M. Boyd told Coeur d’Alene police he was driving east on Interstate 90 when the plant fell from the west side of the Northwest Boulevard freeway overpass. The plant and its plastic pot smashed through the windshield, causing about $300 worth of damage, at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The 45-year-old Lampasas, Texas, man stopped long enough to retrieve the plant. He drove to Smelterville where he called police.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at 769-2290. Callers do not have to give their names.
