Republic Saves Ferry County Fair
You might want to stop by the Ferry County Fair in Republic this weekend simply because it’s actually happening. After spring floods heavily damaged the fairgrounds, it almost didn’t.
The community came together to clean up the grounds so the show will go on and most of the usual events will take place. One notable exception is the horse race, because of mud left behind when O’Brien Creek flowed through the starting gates.
The fair will run Friday through Sunday. The exhibit hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except for Sunday when it closes at 4 p.m. Each day will feature numerous 4-H events including animal judging and showing.
Several musicians are scheduled to perform during the weekend, including Alexix Ebert, the Lydia Miller Band and Herricks Pride. The Pirates and Parrots of Esence, parrots perched on the arms of their pirate-garbed owners, will make the rounds several times as well.
Fair highlights include horse games in the arena at 1 p.m. Friday, a barn dance at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and a tractor-driving contest at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Admission to the fair is $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and kids age 7-17. Children age 6 and under are admitted free.
