Youth Seasons Set
Idaho bird hunting
Young hunters and their mentors can enjoy two special youth hunting days in Idaho this fall.
A youth waterfowl hunt has been authorized for Sept. 26, the weekend before the opening of the regular waterfowl season.
A youth pheasant hunt is set for the first weekend in October.
The special hunts were created to encourage older hunters to concentrate on teaching youngsters the pleasures, skills, ethics and traditions of hunting, state Fish and Game Department officials say.
For the first time this year, a full limit of geese is allowed for the young hunter on the Youth Waterfowl Hunt day. In the past, the hunt was limited to ducks only.
Rules for the hunt will be included in the waterfowl rules booklet soon to be available at department offices and where hunting licenses are sold.
