Authorities Seek Chase Suspect

From Staff Reports

Deputies from Sanders County, Mont., and Bonner County were searching for a man Thursday evening who eluded officers in a high-speed chase from Idaho to Montana.

The chase began in the Hope area at about 3 p.m., where a man and a woman allegedly stole a pickup. Bonner County officers chased the two at speeds of up to 85 mph across the state line.

The Montana Highway Patrol and Sanders County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the pursuit in Sanders County. A highway patrolman set up spikes at a roadblock 10 miles inside Montana on Highway 200, but the man and woman didn’t stop.

The pickup finally stopped six miles later with flat front tires, and the two fled on foot in the Noxon area, according to the Sanders County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman later was apprehended.

The man, described as wearing a green T-shirt and a baseball cap, was still at large in the early evening. The Bonner County Sheriff’s Department did not release any information on why they were pursuing the suspects.
