Greg Woodward Receives Dynatech Scholarship
Greg Woodward, a spring graduate of University High School, received a $4,000 Dynatech Corp. Scholarship and plans to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, this fall.
Woodward has also received the Honor Society Letter for high school achievement, won the University’s American Mathematics Competition in 1998, and has been an Eagle Scout since 1996.
He is the son of Ellis and Deon Woodard, Spokane. His father is manager of planning and master scheduling at Itronix Corp., a subsidiary of Dynatech Corp.
Bart Orth, Nine Mile Falls, was among the students honored at the Central Washington University “Reach for the Stars - Evening of Recognition.”
This annual event is to recognize those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping CWU students, faculty and staff members.
Orth, who received the Department of Athletics Award, is a graduate of Lakeside High School and is majoring in business education at Central.
Luke Bakken, a computer science and applied music major at the University of Rochester in New York, was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa national scholastic honorary society.
Faculty nominate students based on scholarly achievement, humanistic values, and leadership potential.
Bakken is a graduate of University High School.
Two Spokane residents graduated this spring from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va.:
Paul Matthew Davis received a Juris Doctorate and a master in business administration; Aaron D. Goforth received a Juris Doctorate.
Steven Caldwell, a teacher at Medical Lake High School, was selected in May as Eastern Washington University’s Teacher of the Month.
Caldwell is known as a non-traditional teacher who achieves outstanding results.
He was nominated by a student who wrote she had learned more in Caldwell’s class than in any other she’s taken.
