Arthur Cline Spokane

Visitation for Arthur M. Cline, 81, will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Cline, who was born in Deer Park, died Thursday.

In 1939 he married his wife, Charlotte, in Wallace, Idaho. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded a Bronze Star.

Mr. Cline worked for Eckerts Truck Line until 1949 and then worked for Consolidated Trucking Co. for 30 years. He retired in 1979.

He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 690.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Cline of Spokane; three daughters, Rita Bridge of Post Falls, Judy Martinson of Medford, Ore., and Sharon Boyd of Calder, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Edna Doty Spokane

Visitation for Edna V. Doty, 74, will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Born in Selby, S.D., Mrs. Doty died Saturday.

She was a homemaker and a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Doty.

Survivors include four brothers, Larry and Art Pfitzer, both of Spokane, Bernard Pfitzer of California and Alex Pfitzer of Omak, Wash.; and four sisters, Christine Blair, Esther Hansen, Gladys Pfitzer and Dolores Taylor, all of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glad Tidings Missionary Fund.

Mildred Garringer Colville, Wash.

Funeral for Mildred L. “Millie” Garringer, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colville. Burial will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garringer, who was born in Ruby, Wash., died Friday.

In 1941 she married Frank Ferguson in Coeur d’Alene and worked at several stores in Colville, including J.C. Penney, Polka Dot Market and Montgomery Ward.

In 1963 Mr. Ferguson died, and she married Fred Garringer the same year.

Mrs. Garringer owned and operated Millie’s Shoes in Colville from 1970 to 1980 and then worked for Country Homes Furniture and Birch’s Shoe Rack in Colville.

She was a member of the Colville Eagles Lodge, the Colville Rebekah Lodge and was a charter member of the Towanka Home Ec Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Bobette Birch of Cowiche, Wash., and Donna Ford of Hebron, Ohio; two sons, David Ferguson of Spokane and Dennis Ferguson of Colville; a sister, Dorothy Welch of Colville; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Robert Friesen Jr. Spokane

Graveside service for Robert Friesen, Jr., 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Friesen, who died Thursday, was born in Danzig, Germany.

He served in the Army during World War II and retired from Kaiser Aluminum after 34 years.

He was a member of the German Lutheran Church and a 64-year resident of Spokane.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marjorie; a daughter, Anita Quinn-Simmons of Spokane; a sister, Margaret Moore of Kettle Falls; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Norma Hagel Spokane

Memorial service for Norma Jean Hagel, 75, will be at 1 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hagel, who was born in Ellensburg, died Friday.

She was a 50-year Spokane resident and was a secretary for Spokane School District 81 elementary schools for 20 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the American Diabetes Association and was a member and president of the String League Group.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Vince; five sons, Phillip Hagel of Spokane, Vincent Hagel of Oak Harbor, Wash., James Hagel of Bridegport, Wash., Kenneth Hagel of Kennewick and Richard Hagel of Seattle; a daughter, Pamela Simms of Liberty Lake; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Anderson Spokane

Visitation for Mary June Anderson, 82, will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia, Wash.

Mrs. Anderson, who was born in Lamont, Wash., died Friday.

She was a longtime teacher in Spokane and Eastern Washington and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Washington.

Her husband, James, died in 1979.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Evans of Newman Lake, and Vicki Dills and Kathy Tate-Higgins, both of Moses Lake; a son, Richard Tate of Alamosa, Colo; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Sharon Sedlacek Spokane

Private family service for Sharon A. Sedlacek, 45, was Saturday at Gonzaga Preparatory Chapel.

Mrs. Sedlacek, who was born in Seattle, died Friday.

She worked as a clerk at a hardware store and was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and the Road Runners.

Mrs. Sedlacek was a Spokane resident for 15 years.

Survivors include her husband of seven years, Frank; and her parents, Jack and Nancy Brown of Seattle.

Mark Nehlich Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for Mark H. Nehlich, 37, will be today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Nehlich, who was born in Crooked Creek, Mont., near Lewistown, died Friday when he was struck by lightning while bow hunting in Montana.

He lived in Post Falls and then moved to Coeur d’Alene five years ago.

Mr. Nehlich worked as service department manager for Parker Toyota for five years.

Survivors include his wife, Tess; a son and daughter, Mark and Mallory, both at home; his mother, Florence Nehlich of Post Falls; three brothers, Darnell Nehlich of South Dakota, and Larry and Lynn Nehlich, both of Post Falls; and a sister, Tina Dorsey of Post Falls.

Byrde (Tefft) Beckert Morro Bay, Calif.

Memorial service for Byrde (Tefft) Beckert, 94, is planned for 3 p.m. Friday, at the Sunset Chapel in Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Beckert, who was born in Nebraska, died Thursday.

She graduated from North Central High School and was a member of the Audubon Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

She moved to California in the late 1980s.

Her first husband, Norman Tefft, died in 1970. Her second husband, Charles Beckert, died September 14.

She is survived by a daughter, Norma Norman of Newport, Wash.; a son, James Tefft of Nipomo, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Beverly Poquette Spokane

No service will be held for Beverly M. Poquette, 70. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Poquette, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.

She graduated from North Central High School and was a homemaker and member of the El Katif Ladies Shrine Marching Unit.

Survivors include her husband, Glen; two sons, Steven Poquette of Denver and Edward Poquette of Seattle; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
