Lydia Kochanski Spokane
Lydia (Bainor) Kochanski, who was born in Chicago on Sept. 25, 1898, celebrates her 100th birthday today.
Lydia Bainor married Guy Kochanski in 1920; he died in 1983.
She held a variety of jobs, from sewing gloves to assembling parts for the military during World War II. Once she retired, Kochanski volunteered and many people knew her to be a sharp billiards player.
She moved to Spokane two years ago to be near her daughter, Virginia Czechowski. She is also the mother of the late Gloria Dayer. She has four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Kochanski, who is a cancer survivor, hopes to see the year 2000.
