Obituaries

Georgia Gibson Reno, Nev.

Visitation for Georgia A. Gibson, 82, will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gibson, who was born in Buchanan, Ore., died Tuesday.

She married Edward Gibson in 1932.

She and her husband raised, trained and raced thoroughbred horses for many years.

Mrs. Gibson was a resident of Spokane for more than 30 years, recently dividing her time between Reno and Spokane.

Survivors include two sons, Benny Gibson of Priest Lake, Idaho, and Vern Gibson of Maple Valley, Wash.; two brothers, Elmer Johansen of Hillsboro, Ore., and Stanley Johansen of Roseburg, Ore.; three sisters, June Anderson of Roseburg, Clara Marshall of Gales Creek, Ore., and Bernice Frisbie of Soap Lake, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clarence ‘Bud’ Bryntesen St. Maries

Service for Clarence “Bud” Bryntesen, 70, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries.

Mr. Bryntesen, who was born in Minnesota, died Wednesday.

He moved to St. Maries as a teenager and later worked as a logging truck driver.

Mr. Bryntesen recently worked for Keith Sibert Trucking Co.. He was a member of the St. Maries Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Virginia; six sons, Lonnie and Tab Bryntesen, both of Coeur d’Alene, Jon Bryntesen of Post Falls, Bill and Jim Kachelmier, both of St. Maries, and Larry Kachelmier of Spokane; nine daughters, Toni Moe of Hayden Lake, Idaho, Kim Walters of Odessa, Wash., Beth Aho of Mead, Diane Dorendorff, Anita Holstein and Irene Michael, all of St. Maries, Karen Wing of Everett, Mary Cronk of Lynnwood, Wash., and Shelley Pentland of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Ruby Pentland of St. Maries; a brother, Arthur Bryntesen of Arizona; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bernard Bjorvik Greenacres

Memorial service for Bernard M. Bjorvik, 70, will be at 2 p.m. today at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Mr. Bjorvik, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Tuesday.

He lived in Dalton Gardens, Idaho, for many years and worked as a logger until 1954.

Mr. Bjorvik graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1970 and then was a social worker for the state of Washington for 20 years before retiring in 1990.

Mr. Bjorvik continued to work part-time in the summers for the state and wintered in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife of more than 44 years, Evelyn; a son, Doug Cisney of Post Falls; four daughters, Donna Vargo of Yakima, Carole Petersen of Post Falls, Christine Quartin of New York, and Susan Kincaid of Boise; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Selma Short Spokane

Memorial service for Selma Short, 76, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Valley Alliance Church. Private burial will be at Sullivan Cemetery in Winthrop, Wash. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Short, who was born in Mazama, Wash., died Tuesday.

She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1939 and in 1940 married William Short. They moved to Seattle.

In 1954 they moved to Spokane and she was a bookkeeper at Leo’s Studio and Boise Cascade. Mrs. Short retired in 1964.

She was a member of the Valley Alliance Church, the Royal Neighbors, N.C.T. Camping Group and was a volunteer for Valley Hospital and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Jacobson of Renton, Wash.; a brother, Walt Sloane of Cashmere, Wash.; two sisters, Martha Stewart of Winthrop and Cheri Cisler of Portland; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

George Milleville Spokane

No service will be held for George R. Milleville, 74, at his request.

Mr. Milleville, who was born in Detroit, died Wednesday.

He served in the Air Force during World War II and later worked as a masonry contractor.

Mr. Milleville moved to Spokane in 1968.

Survivors include a son, John Milleville of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Adelaide Garritano Spokane

Funeral Mass for Adelaide E. Garritano, 95, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Garritano, who was born in Gallitzin, Pa., died Tuesday.

She worked in retail sales at various department stores and was a member of St. Aloysius Parish.

Her husband of 66 years, Gerald, died in 1986.

Survivors include a son, Charles Garritano of Greenacres; and a daughter, Norma Garritano of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Morning Star Boys Ranch or the Poor Clare Nuns.

Sarah Lee Pilley Spokane

Memorial service for Sarah Lee Pilley, 58, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pilley, who was born in Nashville, Tenn., died Tuesday.

She moved to the Colville area in 1981 and with her husband, John, opened The Roadhouse restaurant there that year.

Mrs. Pilley later worked as a Realtor for Coldwell Banker Grand Realty.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Timothy Pilley of Arizona and Jeffrey Pilley of Virginia; a brother, Syd Pigue, Jr., of Nashville; a sister Virginia Burnette of Brownsville, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.

June Teneff Spokane

Funeral for June Teneff, 72, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home - North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Teneff, who was born in Springdale, Ore., died Sept. 18.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1943.

In 1945, she married Steve Teneff. Mrs. Teneff was a partner in Teneff Jewelry Mfg. for the past 54 years and a member of The Church in Spokane since 1970.

Survivors include her husband; a brother, Cecil Pounder, Jr.; and a sister, Kathleen Walker, both of Spokane.

Douglas West Mead

Graveside service for Douglas Lloyd West, 24, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. West, who was born in Spokane, died Tuesday.

He graduated from Mead High School in 1992 and worked as a pharmaceutical technician for Merck-Medco in Liberty Lake.

West received his Eagle Scout award and was a brown belt in Tai Kwon Do.

In 1995 he married Glenna Costello in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Emily and Logan; his parents, Daniel and Bonnie West of Mead; four brothers, Dusty and Mike West, both of Spokane, Danny West of Milwaukee, Wis., and Steve West of Elk; a sister, Michelle Axling of Cheney; and his grandmother, Clara McAteer of Mead.

Carol Albaugh Spokane

Memorial service for Carol Maxwell Albaugh, 67, is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Albaugh, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Monday.

She worked as an independent insurance agent for a few years.

Survivors include her husband, Dick Albaugh; two sons, Rick Albaugh of Spokane and Brad Albaugh of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Christy Breedlove of Spokane; a brother, Dale Maxwell of Spokane; two sisters, Alice Harty of Seattle and Eleanor Reinhardt of California; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frances Bosio Greenacres

Memorial service for Frances J. Bosio, 77, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bosio, who was born in Bridgeport, Conn., died Wednesday.

She was a homemaker and had lived in Spokane since 1973.

Survivors include a son, Tim Bosio, and a daughter, Sandra Veillette, both of Spokane; three sisters, Eleanor Clark and Joanne Ball, both of Spokane, and Agnes Nettleton of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and four grandchildren.

Eleanor Wiedrich Williams Lake

Funeral for Eleanor Wiedrich, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cheney Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at LaCrosse (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mrs. Wiedrich, who was born in Benge, Wash., died Sunday.

She married Murph Wiedrich and they spent several years on a sheep ranch in the LaCrosse area before moving to Issaquah, Wash., where they raised chickens and sold eggs.

They returned to the Williams Lake area in 1950 where they both retired from Eastern State Hospital as supervisors.

Survivors include two sisters, Catherine Anderson of Cheney and Margaret Fleming of Seattle; and a brother, Ralph Lund.

Rodney West Forest Grove, Ore.

Private service was held for Rodney A. West, 40.

Mr. West, who was born in Lowville, N.Y., died Saturday after injuries suffered in a vehicle/pedestrian accident in Forest Grove.

He served in the Army and was a member of the National Guard in Spokane.

Mr. West was a resident of Spokane for 17 years. He moved to Forest Grove about four years ago.

Survivors include his parents, Floyd and Beverly West of Spokane; a daughter, Natalie West of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother, Daniel West of Spokane; his grandparents, Donald Hayes of Edmeston, N.Y., and James and Betty West of Evans Mills, N.Y.

Milo Thatcher Wellpinit, Wash.

Funeral Mass for Milo G. Thatcher, 67, was Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wellpinit. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wellpinit.

Mr. Thatcher, who was born in Nespelem, Wash., died Tuesday.

He was a heavy equipment operator in the mining industry and worked breaking and shoeing horses on cattle ranches on the Spokane Indian Reservation.

Mr. Thatcher was a member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marie; three daughters, Brenda and Sandy Thatcher, both of Wellpinit, and Linda Bart of Nespelem; a son, Earl Bart of Wellpinit; four sisters, Betty Timentwa of Malott, Wash., Lillian Louie of Portland, Catherine Andrews of Wellpinit and Mary Jane Thatcher of Yakima; and 13 grandchildren.

Sherry Plue Osburn, Idaho

Service for Sherry Ann Plue, 52, will be at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Mrs. Plue, who was born in California, died Sept. 13.

She had lived in Post Falls before moving to Osburn in 1993 and then obtained a nursing license and worked as a caretaker for the elderly.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Smith; three sons, Mikel Plue of Kellogg, Robert Plue of Coeur d’Alene, and Ronald Joseph Jr. of Hawaii; two daughters, Debra Plue of Boise and Tamara Joseph of Wilbur, Wash.; two sisters, Pernie Roskam and Laurie McLaughlin; two brothers, William and Merrill Rowland; and numerous grandchildren.

Judith Kaufman Spokane

Private service for Judith Kaufman, 51, will be in New York. A memorial service in the Spokane area will be announced at a later date. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Kaufman, who was born in Boston, died Sept. 5.

She graduated from Newton (Conn.) High School in 1965 and received her bachelor’s degree and PhD. from the University of Chicago.

Miss Kaufman moved to Spokane 19 years ago was a professor of English at Eastern Washington University.

She is survived by her father, David Kaufman of Newton; and a sister, Marjorie Fieldman of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
