Anna Eleanor King Pullman

Anna Eleanor (Scott) King, celebrates her 100th birthday today.

King was born Sept. 28, 1898, in Ritzville, Wash, and is a lifetime resident of Eastern Washington.

She received a teaching certificate from Cheney Normal School in 1922 and taught seventh grade in Hawaii in 1922 and 1923. In the fall of 1923 she taught in a rural school in Puyallup, Wash., and also taught in Olympia for six months.

In 1924 she married Carl C. King. She was a homemaker and was active in the grange, P.E.O. and Ladies Homemakers of America.

Her husband died in 1971.

King is the mother of Beryl Kinzer of Pullman, Norma Stejer of Spokane and the late Stanley King. She has nine grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

King attributes her longevity to love for family and friends, a sense of humor, and interest in community and world events.
