St. Maries Approves Schools Levy
St. Maries voters approved a six-year, $1.77 million levy Tuesday.
The final vote was 506 in favor and 306 against.
The school plant facilities levy, which will generate $295,000 each year, will pay for a multipurpose facility at St. Maries Middle School, a track and field area at St. Maries High School, fencing for Upriver School playgrounds, roofing and regular repairs and maintenance in the district.
In April 1997, voters in the district passed a $335,000 supplemental levy with 79 percent approval, the biggest margin in district history.
